2014 4Runner Color Combinations

Hello all,

FJ Cruiser (x2) owner looking to make the leap to 4Runner. While my wife would be much happier in a Tahoe, I have long been enamored of the Toyota build, look, and drive characteristics; more so, now, that the interiors are benefitting from improved refinements.

I have been negotiating with two dealerships in the greater Houston area and am getting conflicting answers about "special ordering" a specific 2014 Limited 4Runner. My heart is set on the Barcelona Red exterior and (rare?) Redwood interior. According to Fred Haas (a large dealership), at present this is an impossible combination and cannot be requested. Tejas, a smaller dealer, seems to imply that the assembly plant in Japan could manufacture just such a car if a special order is placed.

Who to believe? The large dealership or smaller one? My brother thinks the point is moot as he finds that combination ugly...

Thanks so much for any responses!

I would tend to believe the large dealership in this case. If you try to "Build Your Own" on Toyota.com, the Barcelona Red Metallic exterior can only be ordered with Black or Sand Beige leather interior. Redwood leather is available with Blizzard Pearl, Classic Silver Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Attitude Black Metallic and Nautical Blue Metallic exteriors, but not with Barcelona Red Metallic.

place an order with the dealer which says it can be special ordered. make them sign a contract which clearly and simply states they will return any and all money paid by you if such an order cannot be fulfilled by the factory in japan, as they claim, or if the vehicle does not arrive and is delivered to you by a specific date. if they are unwilling to make this simple agreement in writing you cannot rely upon their verbal assurance that it is doable.

Tejas will not have the vehicle made at the assembly plant, but rather will have it customized by Gulf South. I have purchased 3 Toyotas from Tejas and the purchase experiences have been good ones. In general, if it can be done for you they will do it. Leather is NOT an option on Tacomas purchased in the US, but I have purchased two Tacomas w/ "factory leather" optioned on the sticker from them. One of the trucks is an '07 w/ ~150,000 miles on it and the leather interior is still in good shape.

When we were ready to purchase my wife's SR5 4Runner 4wd, they could not locate a truck like we wanted w/ factory leather interior/heated seats. They had an SR5 coming into the port modified to our specifications - interior is nice, wife is happy. In my experience, if Tejas says they can make it happen, they will make it happen.
