2014 4Runner - Increase Power?

New to the Forum, but I am hoping I can get some feedback on my new 4Runner. Before buying the new 4Runner Trail Premium in December 2013, I had the 2003 4Runner Sport with the 4.7L V8. Jumping up to the bigger 5th Gen 4Runner with the smaller 4.0L V6, I am struggling with the lack of power as I drive up to the Mountains a lot, and need the additional HP.

I have installed the aFe Power Cold Air Intake, and looking to add a Cat-back Exhaust from either Borla or MagnaFlow. Don't want it to be "loud," but want the increased power.

Two questions:

A) Have you installed wither the Borla or MagnaFlow exhaust? Preference?

B) Any other suggestions on how to further increase power?

Thanks!

You aren't going to get anything else out of the engine that will make a difference, I wouldn't waste any more money. If you can't get enough out of it in current form for your needs than you bought the wrong truck.

I find it does just fine in the mtns here for me, but then I'm not usually in a rush to get anywhere.

Also, probably get better response and comments on exhaust question with this in the 5th gen section.

Any added power will be minimal considering the cost of the exhaust...but neither of them are "loud"....go on YouTube and search for vids to get an idea. You could always get a trd blower for it.....

I wonder of URD is going to make a supercharger for the fifth gen V6 as they did for the 4th gen V6? Might be worth it for the OP to give them a call and ask!

Lengthy thread and discussion on this in 5th gen section and as of now there is no SC option and based on reports there may never be...

Just gotta be willing to rev it up.

Above 4500 rpm, you not only have more horsepower in the 4.0, you should even have more per pound.

Your 2003 had 235 hp, your 2014 has 270hp, put your foot on the floor and all is solved. Don't waste your time with an exhaust that's only worth about 3hp.
