yeah, i figured Toyota would leave that ratty mouse-fur headliner as-is, but damn, that thing is so super-cheapo and out of place in a $40k SUV.

My father-in-law has a lake house in Sawyer, Michigan. I'm excited to take the 4Runner to the UP.

Sounds like a culture shift ... commuting into Chi? I live across the state west, in Rock Island. No culture here.
The UP is nice. Touristy on the W side, less so on the E side. We spent a 10 day drive up there last summer - Gold Star participant in aiding the MI economy.

That's a very American thing to say. The rest of the world has no idea what a 4runner is. I don't have any numbers to back it up, but I would venture to guess that the Toyota Land Cruisers are the most populous "truck" in the world. You can find them in virtually every county on earth that has roads (and probably some that do not).
I personally think Toyota should drop the 4 Runner and market the Land Cruiser GX/Prado in the US.
All things being equal, who wouldn't want a Land Cruiser instead of a 4Runner? They already have THE Land Cruiser in the North American lineup, how hard would it be to rebrand the T4R/GX/Prado platform as a Land Cruiser like the rest of the world?
Obviously doing that up until now would cannibalize sales of the Lexus GX, but now since they are dropping the Lexus GX at the end of the model run isn't it time?
I found a Toyota document with Land Cruiser productions numbers. They made 419,000 in Japan last year. Damn!

That has to be including Prado. LCs are also built in Russia, IIRC. I'd love to see the Sequoia die and the LC cover a broader market here in the US.

I wonder where the inspiration came from?
I remember reading an article online that this is the plan. The Sequoia was going to be discontinued and a baby Land Cruiser was going to fill the gap. I can't find the article, however, this just adds to the mystery about the 6th Gen and GX being killed off.
The Land Cruiser isn't really larger than the Sequoia, and the 4Runner is really the next size down. So unless they add naming and make it the Land Cruiser - 4Runner, or change the 4Runner's name I don't know if I buy it.

So leather interior is now offered on the TE? The seats appear to be heated too, assuming thats what the dials are. Personally don't care for the added chrome and painted fender trim.

I just realized that the V6 has 92% of the horsepower and 93% of the torque of the V8 in my Explorer, close enough for me not to care, since they both weigh 4,5xx pounds. Given that it is a 4.0 and the V8 is a 4.6, and both run on regular, it is also quite efficient.
I wonder how many of the 2013 models are on dealer lots? Perhaps too many, as they seem to be delaying publication of the prices and ordering information.
The SR5 would probably be the better deal vs the Limited - who needs ventilated leather seats when the cloth sport seats are so nice and comfortable in hot weather? The SR5 would also let me avoid paying for a sunroof I do not want on my work vehicle.

I drove my 1996 Impala SS the entire time I owned it without a front plate. Are the cops where you live that bad?
