So have you actually seen a pic of a white TE? I've seen the white SR5 pics, and I know they're pretty similar, but it'd be cool to get some pics of the actual white trail since there are a few differences..

How much you want to bet that many will like the 2014 Limited the best once they see one, not a picture on a screen of one?
I finally read that Consumer Reports review, and it is pathetic. I remember they also thought the Explorer was junk, but 7 years and 159,000 miles later I can say it most certainly is not.
For you-all with 4Runners which have the 4.0 V6 and 5-speed automatic, what things have gone wrong, and at what mileage?
What about these comments from Motor Trend:
1) "Steering is ponderous at best, requiring constant correction." Is that true?
2) "...the truck isn't particularly quiet. Mechanical, wind, and powertrain noise are continually present." is that your experience?

I've generally found the Consumer Reports reviews of the 4Runner to be reasonable. Remember that they are focused on the average consumer whose idea of going offroad is parking on the grass at Muffy's soccer game.
Compared to a cross-over, yes, the handling of my '03 4Runner is ponderous. Yes, it wanders a good bit on the highway, requiring frequent correction -- changing from the OEM Dunlops to Michelin CrossTerrains helped that a fair bit. Yes, it is fairly noisy inside.
My 4Runner handles pretty well, for a truck. It rides pretty well, for a truck. It brakes pretty well, for a truck. But you will never mistake it for a car or crossover. It is a body-on-frame, solid-rear-axle truck, and it drives like one. If you don't need the offroad capability, a Highlander or Sienna may well be a better choice.
All it takes for me to realize how the 4Runner drives is to drive my wife's Mercedes C300 for a few blocks. It turns in so much quicker, tracks better, brakes better, rides better, etc. But it wouldn't get me very far down the beach to my fishing spot.
The offroad capability of the 4Runner comes with a cost. If you won't see the benefit, why pay the cost?

- Since you're in the 5th gen section, that'd be all of us. For me, engine and trans - nothing wrong.

- Ponderous? Hell, NO modern vehicle is ponderous. What a bunch of pussies.
- Constant correction? Well, for my SR5, when new, this was true. Having the caster properly set corrected it by 98%.
It does still requires that I pay closer attention than, say, my wife's new Accord. It is a truck. I drove a '13 TE and this issue did not exist.

- WTF? I don't think so. No more so than any other BOF brick with a roof rack and sunroof and high clearance and 4WD and ....

I test drove a 2013 Trail a few weeks ago. Steering was right on, I noticed no slop. The vehicle was very quiet and the brakes were fantastic. I don't know what they are complaining about. Now I drive a 2002 Silverado so the difference is staggering. I loved the 4Runner!

I just noticed this from many pages ago. I currently have a Chrysler 300 in Brilliant Black which sounds like it is the same as Toyota's Attitude Black. One thing I will say is that it is hard to get a perfect paint match with the flake. I had a custom grill painted by a good shop but it still wasn't exactly perfect. Just something to think about if someone is planning to go off road and possibly scratch it up.
The detailed '14 spec sheet (inc. standard and optional features) from Toyota, posted on their media site on 8/6:

- the PR mentioned that the Limited would have a 7-inch screen. The spec sheet indicates it will use a 6.1-inch screen (consistent with the photos of the preproduction models), which I believe is smaller than the optional nav screen in the '10-13.
- Softex is standard on the Trail...seems like the Premium adds the moonroof and turn-signal mirrors
- the pre-production SR5 we saw in those photos lacked turn signal mirrors and a tow hitch; the spec sheet mentions both, though it also states that the SR5 Premium adds turn signal mirrors
- No mention of LEDs up front (PR mentioned LEDs in front and back)

Have a 2000 4Runner 4.0 5-speed ( albeit earlier engine at less hp ) with 182k miles. Still running strong, no problems so far. Oil changed every 5K miles for lifetime. Looking forward to a 2014 limited!

Great info! I'm really liking the Trail Premium, but I wonder how much the Softex and moonroof are going to cost. I bet $4k
I had read mention that projector lamps were only on the limited but it looks like they are standard across the board which is cool.
Both standard and option talk of lamps with turn signals, is this a mistake:
Standard
- Color-keyed front and rear bumpers, door handles, heated power outside mirrors with turn
signal indicators and puddle lamps, overfenders, and side rocker panels; color-keyed front
grille insert, rear license plate garnish, and silver-painted roof rails with silver end caps
Premium
Power tilt/slide moonroof with sunshade;
Outside mirror with turn signal and lamp;
