2014 4Runner

Damn. My fears have been confirmed. I knew it was the SR5 model but the sales guy told me that Premium would be the same basic design except the Trail would have the off-road features I was looking for. That red stitching is awful. Only way it looks cool is if your 4Runner is red. Oh well. I will live. Thanks for the clarification.

Honestly, the red stitching really isn't that noticeable. If you haven't seen it in person, I think you'll be surprised how it looks. I personally love it. Minor subtle change to all black.

I haven't done a lot of searching or contacting my local dealer, but here is the only thing I have found for the R1's.

Aluminum Running Board set 2010+ 4runner 00012-R1173-01

The listed part number seems different from other Toyota part numbers. Might be the dealer's part number? Or these are not the R1's and are the aftermarket Ionic CXV's? Possibly the R1's are the CXV's sourced from Ionic and rebranded as Toyota?
That is sort of what I as wondering/getting at.

I saw my first 2014 4Runner today and it was a clone to my 2010. The front end is just terrible looking, but I love the rest of the truck and the changes that were made. If I were in the market for a new truck I would still buy it because there is nothing close to the 4Runner.

The look is a bit jarring at first, but six months after the new faces appeared, they really have come into form. White or black (even red) TEs and SR5s look absolutely fantastic. Even the LE with its brace face, or chrome mustache, grows on you after a while, especially when the truck brings you safely home in an ice storm.....

I agree the truck is awesome and the LE front is the better of the 14`s, but I sure hope they restyle the front end before I need a new one.

Trail Premium

Got one of the first trail premiums hot off the truck in NE Ohio! Mag gray and I absolutely love it.

For those that have bought '14's, how is pricing?

After 6 years out of the SUV game, I'm ready to trade my 08 Acura TL for a 14 4Runner Limited. The TL was my first "car", I'd always had Grand Cherokees since I started driving, and after 5 years I still can't get used to being so low to the ground. Anyway, I have narrowed down what I want to the 4Runner Limited 4WD, but I'm curious about where people are winding up with pricing. I *HATE* dealing with salesmen and dealerships - so I want to be prepared. How much wiggle room should I expect from MSRP? Is it better to order exactly what I want or buy one off the lot? There are only maybe 3 in my area on dealer lots and they are the wrong color combos and loaded down with nonsense dealer add-ons I don't want to pay for, like pinstriping and "paint protection", or the $1500 3rd row seat I don't need. Basically, the base Limited 4x4 is what I want - the only options I would even need are the floor mats, so part of me wants to order just so I can skip all the unnecessary stuff. I tried Edmunds True Market Vehicle pricing website, and it's telling me to expect to pay about 94% of MSRP, which is still about $1,000 over invoice, and I'm pretty comfortable with that price. Is that true to experience here? Not expecting the deal of the century on a new, relatively popular SUV, but don't want to pay full sticker price if it isn't necessary.

Got my Lift, Tires and 6000K HIDs

I got mi lift, tires and my 6000K HIDs I took this photo during Christmas and these were all the planned mods I had for last year. I'll keep it this way for a bit until I recover from all the Christmas expenses and can do some other mods.

Opti-Coat, Suntek Clear Bra

Two days after taking delivery of my truck, I sent it to the detailing shop for 3 full days to get a few things done. I decided to get a full front end clear bra installed. It covers the full hood, full fenders, full bumper, mirrors, headlights and fogs, and A-pillars. The film they used was Suntek, which carries a 5-year warranty against fading, yellowing, cracking, etc. Pretty much everything except puncture. I also decided to get the paint decontaminated, polished and then had opti-coat applied to ALL surfaces (paint, plastic, you name it). To top if all off, I had them tint the front windows to match the factory tint.

While all of this was not cheap, I think it turned out amazing and I am really happy that I did it! If you live in the tri-state area, these guys are the ones to visit. They will not let you down, as they are total perfectionists.

They also let me use their heated shop and ramps so that I could personally install my new Borla Cat-Back exhaust! That was super cool of them to do. Anyway, here's a glamour shot for you.

If you want their info, please let me know. Sorry for the rambling, I'm just still on cloud 9 from this 4Runner. :driving:

.... Is it better to order exactly what I want or buy one off the lot? .... .

"Better" pretty-much depends on what you want to do, and how cooperative your dealer is. Sounds like your dealers "pack" their cars -- I don't like that and will not buy one. My dealer is eager for my business, and he'll trade with another dealer or order one, whatever I want. Certainly though, the $ incentive is better from his inventory. If yours are uncooperative, start looking outside your area, as many on here do. Cars.com has a pretty good search engine. (See below).

.... and it's telling me to expect to pay about 94% of MSRP.

IMO, 6% off MSRP is only average, 8% is good, and 10% is very good. But if you're trading you have to be very cognizant of what your car is worth.

Determining Your Region for Toyota Deals
Toyota divides the country into 12 regions, offering different deals in each. The territories are listed below. As you research your purchase, keep in mind that you’re not limited to the region you live in.
If there is a significantly better deal available in another region, it might be worth the trouble to travel and buy there. If someone offered you a few thousand dollars to drive to a nearby state and back, you might very well take the deal -- why not make the same drive to save that money on a new car? Once you know your region, make sure you check out the Best Toyota deals available to you.

New England Region -- Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island
Greater New York Region -- New York, New Jersey, Connecticut
Central Atlantic Region -- Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, District of Columbia
Southeast Region -- North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida
Western Region -- Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota
Ohio Valley Region -- Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee
Midwest Region -- Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota
Mountain Region -- Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, Wyoming
Gulf States Region -- Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi
Northern CA Region -- California north of the Los Angeles metro area
Southern CA Region -- Los Angeles metro area, and areas south
Pacific Northwest Region -- Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana

In my eyes protecting like you have is status quo esp for a new car. Also consider getting clearplex for the windshield. I have it on all my new rigs. Got to keep that factory seal for as long as possible and minimize pitting.

Thanks man! Still learning how to use my camera, but I think the shot turned out great! I am actually taking a road trip from Jersey to South Carolina this weekend for a christening and to pick up a pop-up camper!

Totally agree. I had some chips on the hood and fenders on my 2011 that really bothered me, so this was a must. The detail shop applied Opti-Glass on the windshield, which I suspect is similar to clearplex. Said the coating lasts about a year and helps prevents pitting. Winters in NJ are the true test!

Your 4runner looks amazing!

I agree.

I just recently bought a 2014 LE. I have a an appt this Thursday to get the remote engine start installed. Does the vehicle shut off when you approach the truck? And also do you guys think it's worth the cost?

Thanks and it's a pleasure to be apart of this awesome club.

Here are pics of my 2014 LE. I picked it up on 1/2/14...

personally I would never buy an OEM remote start, they are way to restrictive on use.

3rd party is your best bet.
