The top set- is there any drilling? Thank you so much! I've been looking everywhere!

At this time, you've got 2 options for getting the top ones:

1. Pay Toyota about $1650 for a set

or

2. Do what I did and find someone that's upgrading to different ones and selling theirs.

The second photos are the actual Trail Running Boards and I think they can be had for less than $400 for the set.

No, there is no drilling needed for any of the OEM running boards that I'm aware of.

Went to try out a '14 Limited today.. with an infant bucket behind the passenger seat, I wasn't able to get comfortable without a) passenger seat hitting the rear facing bucket or b) my head hitting the sunroof surround.

Really wanted to like the truck, but it's not gonna work. Had some bad history with Nissans in the past but wifey's second choice is the Infiniti Pathfinder. I can fit in that without infant bucket seat issues or headroom issues.

I wonder if one can special order a '14 Limited with a sunroof delete option.

It's not a dumb question. It's a bit naive to think that someone on the this forum is more likely to pay and use that website (and then travel to steal a bunch of shit) than some person on your local streets that (if he sees you driving around doesn't need the website) can simply follow you home and wait for you to leave and then have a field day.... either way, that's what insurance is for, it's just a suv. to each their own though.

I have to ask.... Why do you blur the license plate out in the pic?... I've see people do this a lot (not just you) and don't understand why...

it's not like you drive around with it blurred and that's in public and plain sight...

You can't. SR5 or TE base only.

Did you put the car seat in the middle back? You have to use the seatbelt instead of LATCH, but it makes a lot more space for the front seats.

I had it right behind. I'll try it out again with the infant seat in the middle.

They didn't have a 5 seater 4Runner in stock, we don't need the 3rd row.

Also remember that you should have the seat reclined to the furthest back position when you install the seat (this is per the user manual). Depending on the car seat shape, that could create more space, too. That was the case with my Chicco Keyfit 30.

The limited second row slides also if I remember right. So make sure it goes all the way back, Our trail seems like the second row has more room.

All models with 3rd row seating have sliding 2nd rows. The 2 row models have the fixed bottom, but they still recline.

Unlikely. The spec sheet calls out different cargo room depending on configuration (2 row, 3 row, tray), but legroom is the same for all 3 models. I doubt there is any appreciable difference.

Oh, that's good to know. The salesman wasn't aware of the sliding second row either.

Page 54 of the "before you drive" manual begins child safety seats. Page 59 specifically calls out the recline angle to use.

I don't believe this is true. There should be a latch system (anchors) for the middle too. Using the latch system is almost always better than a center seat belt.

Owner's manual specifically says Latch is outboard seats only. Check the links above or your own manual.

Latch is dummy proof. It means you are far less likely to screw up the seat installation using Latch. Seatbelts are far stronger than the Latch bars. I've read, somewhere, in my car seat researching days, that Latch bars are only rated for 90 lbs static load. A seatbelt is rated far beyond that.

But, just to reiterate, please read the manual of both the 4Runner and the car seat. If you use the seatbelt, you are supposed to pull the seatbelt all the way out to where it locks and let it retract to a snug position. Each car seat has its own instructions on how to lock the belt to the seat as well. Latch is cut and dry easy to use. I use the outboard latch in the Prius because it is easier to fix the baby mirror to the headrest on the sides than the middle.
