2014 HID Retrofit

I haven't seen anybody successfully retrofit a 2014 4Runner yet. I remember seeing a thread where a custom lighting company hacked up a nice set of headlights, but they realized they went about it the wrong way. I decided to color match the headlights since I already sprayed all the chrome with Anthracite Grey Plasti Dip.

Updated 12.18.14 - Cutoff pictures added

Please note that my driveway is sloped, the retrofit is properly aimed and there is absolutely no issues with other drivers being blinded by my lights.

As noted the GS350/450 projectors are not high quality projectors but they are side mounted projectors like the 4Runners. You can't really tell from the pictures but theres decent color and the cutoff is pretty sharp. Overall I'm happy with the output of the outcome of the retrofit.

should have put a daytime led strip where you painted the chrome arrow inside the headlight assembly.

Trust me I thought about it. I didn't want to just put a generic LED strip in there. If i was going to do it I want to do it right and put in a custom LED strip. All the stuff that can be readily purchased would have made the headlight look cheap in my opinion. I found some a decent switch back flexible LED strip, but from the reviews the LED was not bright enough.

Can anybody recommend someone/company that can customize a LED strip that are as bright as the OEM LED on Audi and Lexus vehicles?
 
did you take some pictures of it opened up? I want to see the lens, bowl and shield. If you have some please post for reference? You going to do a write-up on the process? :hatsoff:
 
They look like Venza projectors to me. Were they a bolt on or was modification required? I was thinking they were a 2.5" projector instead of 3". Also the measurements for the bowl, etc. I saw were slightly smaller than the stock 4runner projector. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

I was told the projectors were from a Lexus GS. I'm sure other vehicles uses the same or a similar projector. Yes they are smaller than the stock halogen len, their actually 2.6". I tried to swap the lens with a some TSX, but the TSX lens was slightly smaller.

It was not a direct swap, some modification was required.
 
Looks great! Congrats on the first successful retrofit! What temp and for how long did you bake the headlights?
 
That looks really good. But your might be the first successful retrofit, you got to do a writeup on the process for us. Can you post pictures of the factory bowl, I want to see how the bowl and the shield is setup.
 
sorry guys been awhile for a little bit. Ill see what pictures took when i was working on the retrofit. Ill share with everybody what i have.
