Have you considered installing an FJ Cruiser oem cyclonic intake. I have been very happy with it; removes a lot dirt particles before even hitting the air filter.

These help a little, more for the sound and nestalga of having one. If I was going to buy a cold air intake it would be the TRD one. I've bought aftermarket ones before and the fit and finish just wasn't as good as the ones made by the manufacturer. I think if you like that sound and really just want one to go for it. But don't expect just tons of gains in the HP or Torque.

They might manufacture it but I bet that code is only good on the two they make for our trucks.

Actually they don't even help a little. If anything you get worse efficiency because you are always opening it up to get the only thing a CAI gives and that is noise. Oh, it looks pretty with that red piping and trim too.
The filter element is not going to be any better either.
The guys saying things like "Faster response" and "Quicker" are delusional when it comes to our vehicles. Your gains, if any, will be so minimal there is no way to feel it even with the most optimistic butt dynos.
A thread comes out every three months or so and invariably someone will post nonsense claims about performance gains of some type. If you want to improve performance with the 5th gen 4Runner it will be an expensive process for minimal gains. Even if they ever produce a SC it will be about $100 a hp or so. So, for right now, pick a cool day with the correct barometric pressure and head up to the mountains if you want to get more HP. That's what I was thinking. Someone told me that the CAI just changes sound a little and thats about it. He stated you would get more pep by just adding a couple pounds of pressure to your tires

I installed a 2012 AFE-CAI in my 14 Trail today. Bought mildly used out of the for sale thread in here. Still a direct fit, but I did have to relocate the horn back along the fender well. Just flipped the bracket and moved it to another pre-threaded hole. I've run K&N filters for years on several vehicles. I'm more interested in a cleanable and reusable filter for the life of the vehicle than in any performance gain. This one was about half the price of a brand new unit and I've never had a full CAI, so I thought i'd give it a try.

I assume you're asking me since I have the only picture posted so far. So here ya go. Best I can do with the phone out here. Sorry about the dust, we're in a silt bowl right now. As suggested earlier I have seen no appreciable power or mpg gain. I am still looking at adding a Magnaflow catback system somewhere down the road.

I would like to point out that for all intents and purposes the 120/150 platform (4Runner, Tacoma, FJ Cruiser) come from the factory with CAI, air is drawn from the passenger inner fender. All you're paying for is a fancier air box and oiled filter.
