2014 navigation question

If you have the navigation set to show the speed limit and street name all the time do you have to hit the "I" icon every time you restart the 4runner to get the speed limit to show again or does it show it without you having to hit the "I" icon? I have to hit the "I" icon every time I restart to get the speed limit to appear. I think I may have a problem. Sometimes I do not even have the "I" icon appear in the lower right side of the screen and then it will just appear for a while. It will show the speed limit while navigating but when not navigating somewhere is when I have this problem. Also I notice that if I have the volume set to 2 it sometimes gets loud and when I check the volume setting it is at 4 without me changing it. Also my "POI" setting go away sometimes. Is it just something I am doing wrong or do you feel there is a problem?

Sorry I can't help, but as the relatively new owner of a '15 SR5P that has a couple of Garmins and more smart phones with Google maps nav, this Toyota system is awful. Difficult to use, not intuitive at all. Yes, my speed limit shows up - most of the time. Who knows why.

I do recognize other benefits such as the upgrade in the sound system this package provides, but have just about determined the NAV is worthless .

I felt that way a first but I am getting to understand it better as time goes by. I just want to find out if this problem is something I am creating or a defect. I can not find my answer in the owners manual.

As an owner of two 2015's, one with Nav, one without, I think I can definitively state that there is absolutely no difference in the sound system part of the radio. I think the brochure advertises "8 speaker system" for the entune "plus," but fails to mention that the base entune system radio also has the exact same 8 speakers. I drove the one without "premium" for several months, and now the other - same music, same roads, etc. No difference whatsoever. I've never owned a Garmin, but was planning to buy one until I wound up with this factory NAV. Drivers of the other vehicle have smart phones, so little need for a Garmin in the house at this point. I'll live with the factory NAV for now, since its limitations are partially offset by the convenience of in-dash installation, and also a usable integration with the voice commands system. If it becomes problematic, outdated or otherwise less appealing, I'll make the move to Garmin.

Interesting on the delta in the sound systems....or non-existent delta...

I dint use the Garmins anymore, but my Phone Google maps routes through my Bluetooth and I receive stereo interrupted voice instructions. Works well.

I'm counting on becoming more familiar with the 4R NAV, but this my wife's car so I'm not in it real often. She's tech savvy so when she needs it, she'll figure it out. She's younger than me...
