2014+ T4R Tri-LED Projector / Sequential Headlights

you all really think all the guys on Instagram taking pics of these lights care about light output?

Definitely not.

I'm concerned with both output and aesthetics and I'm happy with them.

I've never had drop-in HIDs because I think they cause unnecessary risk so, in my case, I'm comparing to OEM halogens. And relative to OEM halogens, they are undoubtedly a significant upgrade in light output and overall performance. I've yet to see any downside to them whatsoever. But that's just my own anecdata.

I care.... They need fog lights in my mind to supplement them. I cant see anything over my hood anyway with the scoop that close to the truck.

If >10% of the lights were physically failing, DOA, etc - that would be a nightmare, no question. In this case, we're looking at user preference and if the majority of owners are happy, thats what counts.

The lights could get a full optics overhaul and maybe the ones who weren't impressed this time around would be happy, but those who were satisfied wouldn't be.

In any case, the feedback has been passed on because it matters to us, and IF something can be done to deliver the best of both worlds, we'll do what we can!

That said, to those of you who purchased from us...you are OUR customer, and if you're simply not as impressed as you hoped to be, we're happy to take the lights back, offer a full refund, cover shipping, do whatever need be for you. :humble:

Hopefully you get a few returns. I'd definitely be interested in picking up a set.

Meeee tooooo. I just would like to try them out. I have met one guy that hated his, and has since sold his locally to another guy. The new owner loves them apparently.

Sure, and I certainly understand that. Through this forum and another there are 10 people that have said they sent theirs back. That's over 10%.

It really doesn't matter to me. Based on what I have read I have no intentions of buying these, just pointing out that 10% (while pretty high percentage) seems quite low based on internet grumblings and personal stories that have been shared. I'll save my money and upgrade my lights (when the time comes) from Kustom54 or Lightwerkz.

its the same people on the other forum that are complaining on this forum, lol.

But back on topic, as an overall package, I'm still happy with my lights.

Guys - sorry for any confusion here - but for the reasons we explained earlier, there are currently no intentions (that we are aware of) to release any "updated" version of the lights with a different light output. The launch inventory represents the finalized product, and as soon as more inventory arrives, they will all share the exact same beam pattern. Those lights are already in full production & will be shipped to us in the next couple weeks. It would take many months to completely overhaul the optics used inside the headlights between the engineering & tooling. While some customers have voiced complaints about the foreground light, it's only about 10% of the current user base, not nearly enough to warrant an overhaul like that.

By marking the lenses "DOT", you are verifying that the headlighting units comply with ALL provisions of the standard. You and I know that these lighting units are non-compliant. As NHTSA is part of the Executive Branch, this offense falls under C.F.R 18 . This criminal offense is in addition to any fines and recalls mandated by NHTSA.

I’m keeping mine. I just switched my fogs from the rigids to the morimoto fogs so I could run them in the city. Are they perfect? No, but are they better than stock lights? Hell yes! Now the stock headlights shouldn’t even have passed any testing hahaha. Most of us are coming from HIDs so yes there was a difference. But I also have a light bar if I REALLY need extra light which I would still use it with the HIDs. But everybody is different.

Did you run the plug and play HIDs with the stock headlights before switching to these? If so, how do you compare the two?

this has been covered.

Drop in HID's will have way better performance because everything from the light cutoff down will be very brightly lit. This also means, other drivers will hate you, and more eye fatigue on long drives, but its the best setup for the money (relatively cheap to do).

LED's have same cutoff ,but the light will be substantially dimmer as you move away from the cutoff. Drivers won't hate you (beam is way more focused and precise), and less eye fatigue for you over long drives, but less light performance.

Its all about tradeoffs..and what you want

If you are coming from OEM, then both routes is better than OEM. So question is, do you want only light performance (HID) or do you want to compromise performance w/ aesthetics (LED).

Exactly what mrblah stated. I just don’t feel like the performance is as bad as people say. I can see where I’m going in the dark, they look good, and if needed I have a 30 inch light bar to pick up the slack.

Can this offer be extended to the ones that paid to ship? It would be nice, pay pal covers 30 bucks but my total was 114

Thanks for the reply. I guess I should rephrase the question and ask to compare the actual beam widths between his drop in HIDs to his new LED headlights.

(I have drop in LEDs and even those lack in width, but my OEM LED fogs do make up for what the headlights lack.)

I'd also wager that anyone who has used the stock headlights and stock bulbs for any length of time would be ecstatic over these and not even have an idea there's beam cutoff "issues."

Exactly. Dear god the OEMs are so ****ing terrible it's not even funny, especially after you see what is capable with modern solutions.

And yes, I would also bet most people that are not scouring the forums like us don't even notice the beam pattern difference.

Like I said in my initial review, I probably wouldn't have even noticed if I wasn't looking for it. And even looking for it, the "void" wasn't where I was expecting it to be, i.e. a little sliver in front of the bumper that doesn't really show me much anyway. Side-lighting was more than sufficient for driving.

I did preemptively do a little horizontal adjustment to push them towards the outside a *tiny* bit in response to what people were complaining about, but not enough that I'd expect significant difference between my own and others' experiences.

In my experience with XD hid kit and the xb headlights the xb has a wider field of vision very far out, however very dim. No vision upfront to the sides. The hid has side vision upfront and cast more usable light far out.
Imo the wide XB light at a distance is of no use unless you care to glance in back yards of houses on the street. At night street driving one should pay attention to the road that hid handles better.
The xb are brighter than my 5k hid however less field of vision.
I need to add my OCD kicked in to properly align these lights. Used the correct procedure and validated the alignments with a strong accurate green laser. Others may not have done this. My 1st shot after install was using old tape markings on my garage door. That proved to be far to low and I couldn't see more than 30' in front the runner

That’s what I need. A proper alignment. I just eyeballed it for now. Need to find a good flat surface and time.

It’s because people are used to their HID kits that blind the crap out of oncoming traffic.

I adjusted mine really far out and I’m happier. Out if the box, it was aimed low
