2014 trail cargo accessory plug question.

Hello guys and gals---I'm adding a non-conventional compressor to my rig...this one:

SENCO Air-Powered Nailers, Staplers, and Fasteners

I know its ridiculous but it fits my needs and I got it on the cheap. Can I just plug it in to the Accessory plug in the back and be on my way or will I need a power inverter?

The unit requires 115v/4amps. Go easy on me. Thanks.

Too much power for the stock inverter. I believe the max is 400 watts at 120v which is about 3.33 amps depending on the voltage at the plug.

There are ways around it though, but it depends how much you really want it. You can run cable all the way from the battery to the back, however, because of the distance/voltage drop, it will have to be a rather thick cable. But, it may still be too much for the stock battery to handle. Most who use accessories do the dual battery mod. Check out the search and you'll find the setup and instructions for that. Other way to do it would be, purchase a deep cycle battery and inverter, but that would cause you to have to worry about charging the battery.

Is there a reason why you need such a heavy duty compressor?

I got the compressor cheap and I like that its really compact. I do a lot of biking/mx so I prefer to have the tank for instant air and setting beads. At any rate---I realized there's no simple way of doing this so....here's my plan:

-cobra 800 watt power inverter(stashed in cargo area)
- 4 gauge wiring.
-maybe a relay to avoid any battery drain

This setup will be just for the compressor and it will only be used with the car running.

Any thoughts on the my inverter choice/wire gauge---plan all together?

Even though the unit is only rated at 4a, I would be concerned about the amperage that motor requires at startup- especially during recovery. By recovery I mean: The compressor fills the tank to capacity. Some of the air is used (filling a tire) and the compressor will try to start with 80-90 PSI in the tank already. I have a feeling it may be too much for the inverter at that point.

Not saying it won't work, but just a concern. Keep your inverter power wires AND GROUND as short as possible. This will help that little inverter tremendously!
