I've been to 2 dealers now. Neither will acknowledge my problems. I've shown them videos, but they come back with "well its working now and no codes are present so Toyota won't let us pull anything apart" This is Village Toyota and Sun Toyota.
It started with my AC fan not blowing or not blowing strong enough. The fan setting would be on max, and yet it only blows at an asthmatic wheeze. Sometimes cutting it off and on works to fix it, often not. It always makes a buzzing sound. Sun claimed leaves in there, but its still present. I've yet to resolve this issue. For the last few weeks, when you start the 4runner, the AC is not on, even when left on. pressing the button in the center (SR5 without dual climate control) does nothing. playing with the fan does nothing, eventually it comes on after pressing everything repeatedly for 15 minutes. Toyota also claims key cycles will fix this, but shutting on and off the entire vehicle does nothing. Sit and wait was another option, but often I do not have the time to go find a hobby while the AC stops its temper tantrum.
I love this vehicle, but these problems and the dealers' lack of effort to assist while under warranty, makes me regret this purchase. I guarantee that at 30,001 miles or whenever the warranty ends, they'll be super happy to assist me then. I live in FL, I drive with an 18 month old child in the back seat, AC is a must, even yesterday 9/14/16 getting in the car was 108-112 degrees and it'll be like this for 30 or so more days. I've since resorted to driving our old truck since at 13 years old it has less problems than this and the AC works.
