2015 limited shock question

I only owned my limited for a month and finally was able to tow my boat for the first time and noticed that the ride is very stiff and I was wandering if changing the shocks would help the ride.

Literally everyone says the ride is to soft on the 5th gen. Not sure how much softer you can really make it? Are you sure the previous owner didn't swap out the shocks back there?

I'm not sure. I had a gmc acadia and the 4 runner is extremely stiff compared to the gmc. I'll have to look at the shocks and see if they have been changed. Will the shocks have Toyota stamped on them if there standard shocks?

The stock shocks are very soft. It’s possible you have the non-factory ones.

Are the back shocks adjustable? it looks like a line going to the top of the shock.

I bought it as a certified vehicle so I thought it had to be standard equipment.

If the shock bodies are red and there's hydraulic lines connecting them, you'll have the XREAS system like mine. Makes replacing them with something else an all or nothing deal.

...the Toyota X-REAS shocks don't say 'Toyota' on them, but they're RED, and they'll have hydraulic lines running from front to rear!

then yes I have the xreas system. Is it a decent shock and are they adjustable? The back are red in color and there is a hydraulic line running to the top of the shock. Thanks guys for answering my questions. Now I have to figure out why my ride is so stiff.

I found the factory limited shocks quite smooth. I’m wondering if it might be the 20” rims and low profile tires these things come with. I personally dislike low profile tires on suv’s, more sidewall = softer, more compliant ride, all else being equal.
