No automatic transmission fluid dipstick ?

If no dipstick, is there an indicator that will go off on the dash if the fluid gets too low?

Sealed unit. Not sure about warning light for fluid level, but I don't think so. What does your manual say? The manual for my 19 shows two transmission system warnings, one a general system malfunction, and the other high fluid temp warning.

The transmission pan has two plugs on the bottom. The regular bolt head is the drain plug, the Allen key head is the level plug.

There's a procedure for using the level plug correctly...engine running, vehicle level, gear in park, transmission fluid temp within a certain range, then remove the plug and fluid should lightly trickle out. If not, add more via the huge fill plug on the side of the trans case and repeat. Total PITA compared to a dipstick.

That really does sound like a PITA , wonder why they eliminated the dipstick ? Guess the only way to know when there's a leak is to look for it on your driveway or wait for the transmission to blow up, WTF?

Agreed, from a maintenance perspective it's a PITA. You have to overfill it slightly in order to properly set the level. Fortunately the transmission will misbehave long before it blows up (except for a large, sudden, catastrophic leak) e.g. slipping on takeoff from a stop, delayed shifting, etc.
