2015 TRD Pro potential

I may be going to check out a 2015 TRD Pro this week and wanted to make sure I don't bypass anything important I should look out for in them. The Runner looks very clean from pictures, one owner, well maintained, all Florida owned, so I imagine no rust problems. Only downside is the high mileage on it, it has a little over 120k, which on any other vehicle I wouldn't even look at with half that mileage, but being a Runner, I know it's just been broken in. I currently have a 1st gen as my badass weekender, have owned a 4th gen about 6 years ago and have driven a 5th gen as a rental, but have yet to add one to my garage. Any tips would be awesome and if nothing else, I could use lots of good vibes that we can work out a deal in our budget range. I've been searching for my perfect 5th gen for almost 2 years and it may finally be time to bite the bullet! :bounce:

Seeing as it’s not the special color I’d just get a used ORP that has half the miles, if that, for the same price. The pro is mostly an appearance package. The 2019+ fox suspension is real nice. The 5th gen is definitely great though. I like it much better than my 3rd gen.

I agree having a pro is nice but at 120k the suspension will need to be redone no point in a pro for a badge and a grille i have a pro and it was a mistake i planned on keeping it stock but it never happend lots of waisted money learn from my mistake get an ORP

28.5k - Which seems reasonable when comparing to 3 different auto value sites, but of course we'll try and get out the door a little cheaper than that.

28.5 is insane for 120,000 miles. As others have said, the Pro sticker on a white vehicle is worthless once the suspension is no longer new/ish.

Literally, 100% of the value added by a new Pro is the suspension and special color. Absent both, there is zero value over a TRD.

Now, I cannot believe the stock Pro suspension can last 120k. So maybe it is newer? Even so, the aftermarket version is pretty cheap (though I am sure the Pro is tuned better; I have the aftermarket version and I needed 650lb front springs to be able to actually "run" in the desert). So even with a newer suspension you have to weigh that vehicle against a TRD.

Was thinking the same thing. I wouldn’t do it. It’s not a special color for a pro and with that mileage and price you might was get an trail or off road edition with less miles.

As others have said that is a ripoff. You can get a lower mileage 4Runner for not much more. The only thing that made the TRD Pro "special" was the color and the shocks. Being that this one is white with a pin-stripe of all things it's really not that special. Plus you can see the 4Runner is lifted a bit higher than a normal TRD Pro. So it either has a puck lift or the original TRD Pro bilsteins were replaced. At 120k miles the TRD Pro bilsteins would be cooked anyways. You're over paying a lot for the badge, some headrest stitching, and carpet floor mats at this point.

Like many have said. The only attraction to the pre-2019 pro is the color. Since you're looking at white and not a specialty color, get the TRD Off-road for much less, with lower miles. You might even find a KDSS TRD and have much better on road handling.

Don't feel like that truck is worth it -

I don't feel like i got a particularly good deal but for reference we just picked up my wife a 2015 super white TEP for 25k+tax with 80k on it (essentially flawless interior and exterior and miles were mostly highway)

I'd say continue to shop around

Another vote for please don't buy that thing for that much. You could get so much more by buying a lower mileage TRDOR or a cheaper similar mileage 4runner and have money leftover to make way better.

$28.5K with 120K miles is usually a SR5 Premium or possibly TRD Off Road around here at stealerships.

BUT...these are Pre-COVID-19 prices. Currently the market game for auto sales has changed. These stealerships are hurtin’ and will be even more hurt further down the road.



For an example, Just did a search for the cheapest TR4 TRD PRO on CarFax within a 500 mile radius. A modded 2015 with 150K miles is going for $30K

Not really good for the seller when vehicle prices and taxes in CA are already absurdly high. You can buy the much better 2019+ fox suspension and a used ORP and have a better performing vehicle.

I got my brand new, 1 mile ORP with every option available for $39k. No way in hell I’d pay in the $30s for something that has over 100,000 miles on it.
