2015 TRD Pro wheel VS 2015 Trail wheel question

I currently have a 2015 SR5 with stock wheels and Micheline Defender LTX M/S tires. Looking at getting a set of Trail wheels and was double checking to make sure I can just do a swap of the tires from the stocks to the TE without any issues. Thanks

Yes, the TE wheels are only .5" wider then the SR5, same diameter (17")

*Less* of a positive offset is essentially heading *towards* negative offset which would stick out farther, no? Going from 15mm to 4mm would stick outboard 11mm from stock from my understanding, or am I missing something?

You are not missing anything. Your understanding of the rim offset and its effect are correct. I am not a fan of wheel spacers.

Regardless I'm going for wider stance too, anybody know if 285s will start to rub on a 2.5/1.5 lift if you use spacers on TRD pro rims?

That is correct and when converting you are only gaining .43 Inches with the 11MM change. I'm shopping for wheels as well and keep coming back to the FN wheels due to the offset of 0. But I don't think it will stick out far enough for my liking. I may do a -12MM offset which would be a full one inch offset from the 15MM stock wheels.

Was just in the store today and saw some rims that had a -6 offset which may be a happy medium and will *hopefully* not rub with 285s. They're Pro Comp vertigo series 40. Come in grey with black lip (fake beadlockers) and black/machined. Not a fan of fake beadlockers but the black lip helps break up the gray on gray I'll have going with my MGM TEP.

Funny you mention those because I saw them installed on a 5th gen. They do look good especially for the money. Do you think -12MM will rub? I'm trying to get a further from the sway bar. I'm rubbing near full lock now with 3" lift, stock wheels and 265/70/17. I want 285/70/17 or 295/70/17 with the next set of wheels.

I found FN Wheels' website but that wheel doesn't show up. A google image search shows a wheel that appears to be TRD Pro replica though. Is it not FNWheels.com?

You don't need to tell me about spacers. I wouldn't use them unless they were hub-centric and bolted to the existing studs and had their own studs coming out of them. At which point I would probably be looking for a substantially different offset wheel anyway.

Performance is always first priority. I was looking at factory wheels for fitment, serviceability and reliability, and looks but if neither would provide anything more than a wider track, which is what I'm most concerned about, then I'll probably look for a set of used TE 7-Spokes when I'm ready then. Thanks for the input.

I'll have a set of stock TEP wheels ready to go next week once my TRD wheels arrive. PM me if interested.

FN wheels are all 0 offset which I believe is as wide as most people can agree *shouldn't* rub on body mount. From what little I've read on here I'm fairly certain -10 or more would rub at the body mount with 285s. Maybe even -6 but if you want to try it I forgot to mention the Fuel trophy D552 is also a great looking wheel that comes in -6. Its gray/anthracite color more closely matches my MGM so I'll probably go with it if I can find a good deal and if I decide it won't rub with 2.5" lift... Any insight from those running spacers or wide stance rims is appreciated.

New to forum, advice please!

I am the new owner of a 2014 4runner Trail Edition 4runner. Loving my 4runner so far and I am interested in starting on some basic modifications.

I currently have the stock trail edition bfg tires/wheels and am interested in purchasing 17inch TRD wheels. Can I put the TRD wheels on my stock TE tires or will this cause a problem? Thank you for any advice!

There is a possibility you'll have tire rubbing while backing up and with the steering wheel at full lock. The offset on the TRD wheels is different than the stock trail wheels. Toyota trims the bumpers and pushes the mudguard forward on all the TRD Pro 4runners. The link below details the TSB that was issued by Toyota back in 2015 for the Pro's. If you do get rubbing, don't be discouraged; it's a fairly easy fix and this site has tons of information on how to do it.

Sorry Noob here. Would the TRD Pro Wheels with 275-70-17 KO2's fit a stock 2016 SR5? Will it rub. Thanks in advanced.
