2016 TRD PRO or 2016 Trail Premium?

Only if I don't upgrade the TEP to match the suspension and protection that is stock on the TRD.

The biggest factor for me was the warranty and the the fact that I would need a reconstruction permit for any mods I make because I live on Oahu.

You would be amazed at what you can do with stock TEP KDSS suspension.
Check out traildamage.com. My 2014 TEP can capably handle anything up to a 5 on scale of 10. And trust me, 5 is crazy. 6 you will definitely damage your vehicle. Jeep guys with $ big $ mods ask me how I got up here (colorado) with stock tires.

Neurospeed, Congrats on your new ride. It appears the look won out.
So I was faced with the same decision and I chose the trail edition premium with KDSS.
The TR D pro may have been a better deal because I got it negotiated to $40,500. The dealbreaker for me was the sunroof I figured I could add the grill and rims and make it a TR D pro and even lift it if I needed but I could not add a sunroof aftermarket that would give me the confidence that I needed to be comfortable. I actually drove to another state to pick up the TR D pro then I got in it test drove it and I couldn't do it because of the sunroof I love having one I always keep it open and in anytime besides the weather I have it open for the air to circulate I did not want to lose that feature. I plan on adding the TR D pro rims also adding different tires and then the appearance package so that essentially it will be a TR D pro looks wise but I will have KDSS. It is so smooth with KDSS it's pretty crazy.

Yeah. I didn't want to deal with a reconstruction permit and voiding factory warranty also.

TRD-PRO, because with the newly released TOYTECH-2" Lift Kit its a beast. Just waiting on that URD-Supercharger!!!

You must have gotten fleeced on your TEP then. Even at the cheapest price I've seen a TRD Pro offered here ($42K), I still paid a whopping $5K less for my TEP. And most are hovering around $45K now. $8K buys a shitload of upgrades.
$8K isn't the typical difference. Did you get KDSS?
