I just picked up my TRD Pro magnetic gray last weekend here in NorCal. Paid MSRP. I hear there are a couple around still waiting to be delivered to dealerships (modesto toyota, stevens creek toyota, and fremont toyota) not sure if they have deposits waiting for them already though.I do not know where in SoCa you are, but if you passed me in that I would be rubber necking big time...looks awesome...
I am still hoping to get TRD Pro from NorCal dealer, but I agree it seems you have a better truck for same price. My reasoning this time around is that every 4x4 I've owned (well almost every one), I have gone bonkers adding stuff going way overboard like an addiction. And the older I get, and living at least 4 hour round trip from any wheeling, making it difficult to just go play on a whim's notice....I make my vehicles less roadworthy, ride worse, worse mpg, and never wheel them (well hardly)....so in getting TRD Pro I have the minor lift, rims, and AT tires (even if they are not so great), full warranty, no temptation to lift it. Because if I get a Trail, once I say I am gonna lift something I keep adding parts to the suspension because if you are gonna do it do it right right?? Then it just keeps flowing with bumpers, skids, winch etc etc....
I am hoping to get a TRD Pro, and leave it BONE STOCK...if I go trail riding it should be fine for most anything I would do, and will be WAY WAY better than a Jeep for long roadtrips. I will probably wheel more with a TRD Pro than I did with my Jeep Rubicon, because who wants to rattle, bounce, and go deaf for hours on the highway to get to the trails? With a TRD Pro I might actually enjoy roadtrips more and hit mild trails. The small lift and locker will make it go plenty of places, as I have seen on here guys with stock 4runners going all sorts of gnarly places. When the Nittos wear out, I will put on some better tires, maybe the new BFG ATs or Toyo ATs...and hope that I only fall for maybe some extra lights and sliders in the future...again I want to get something and keep it as stock as possible this time around. Looking forward to a 4runner, will probably feel like a caddy compared to using a Rubicon as a DD!!!

Reading your post...
- You'll probably off-road 2-4 times a month, nothing too crazy.
- The price difference is about 2k.
- You are leaning toward the PRO because you like the look of it
Given the price difference and your first instinct, I would do the Pro. For nothing too crazy ...it is capable.
Other thing to consider is, yes you can get a non-Pro and do all the mods, when it comes time to trade/sell it, you most likely won't recover the mod money. A stock Pro will hold it's value, relative to a heavily modded one.
Go with your first instinct, lesson I have learned is the heart wins over the head or any spread-sheet.
Cheers
Sup guys. I'm trying to decide between one of these 2. I've compared the 2 and so far the differences are KDSS, moonroof on the TEP, and wheels, suspension on the TRD PRO. I'll probably off-road 2-4 times a month, nothing too crazy. The price difference is about 2k. I'm leaning toward the PRO because I like the look of it, off-road capability for both are probably pretty similar. I searched this topic and found a little bit, but I want more opinions on which T4R would be the better purchase. I'm sure others have had to choose between these. So please chime in with some opinions and insights and why you chose 1 vs the other.
Thanks in advance
I have a TRD PRO on order, but it's not due till around November.
