Looks like they just renamed the trail to TRD off road

Well... let's give them credit where credit is due. The Trail had no extra badging (unlike the SR5, LIMITED, and TRD PRO models).

The TRD Off-road will have a TRD badge. Huge difference!!!

Yep. Now it's a Trail Pro. No truly new features, sounds like. My question now is what does the TRD Pro offer that the TRD Off Road package does not? The special yearly color?

Different suspension, grill, skid plate, and no sunroof.

Guess I'm kinda weird... I like the no-badging on my Trail!

2014 TEP w/ KDSS / Bilstein 5100s (front at 1.75) / Cornfed 1 inch rear spacers / 265/70 Nitto TG G2s / FN Cntrsteer Type X / RCI Front skid / Yakima Cross bars / NFab Steps

I imagine a TRD badge on what is essentially the current Trail model will raise the price. Wondering if that will make the resale value of the Trail models even a little higher. I suppose I wouldn't sell anyway, so what does it matter :biggrin1:

Seems that they are standardizing the 4Runner to be in step with Tacoma, when you look at how the trims are structured.

Agreed. I debadged both of my Tacomas, my TC, my GTI, my wife's old Rav4, and my old 4Runner... It was kinda nice not having to do that to my 15 TEP.

It looks like the black wheels with go on the TRD OR (new Trail), I wonder what happens to the old Trail wheels?

And the timing seems strange if they are remaking the 4Running in 2018. 2017 will be a one-off type year.

"The exterior of the TRD Off-Road 4Runner features black painted wheels and a unique TRD Off-Road badge on the C-pillar. Inside, the center console has a carbon fiber look and the floor mats feature the TRD Off-Road designation. The TRD Off-Road Premium 4Runner also adds “TRD” red lettering on the headrests for the driver and front passenger."

Wow all these new things, thats at least a $1000 increase in MSRP I bet :biggrin1:

Yup. Just changed the name from Trail to TRD. Oddly, now the TRD Pro is going to be segmented below the TRD off-road premium. Does that mean you they'll put the Fox /Bilstein shocks on the trail premium?

OK, let me be the first to put it on the table...

when do we get the SR5 TRD-3rd Row special edition...

the SR5 owners want to feel special too ya know!!!

:smashputer:

Looks like my resale will go up as it's "the last year that the Trail Edition was offered" Not that I am remotely considering selling it anytime soon

Call it what you want, I drive on trails and off-road. It would be a nice upgrade if the new TRD Off-Road got the Billstein upgrade that current TRDOR Tacomas do. I found it interesting that there was no upgrade option between the SR5 and the Trail.
