2017 Limited TPMS info FYI

Just an FYI on TPMS, four codes versus five codes (spare tire) and different year changes. Under the category of learn something new everyday.

I know it is the internet, but I am going to admit I was wrong. The dealer and tire shops have told me for years that my 2017 Limited can only read four TPMS codes, and the spare is just a duplicate of one of the others. On the 2017, there is just a warning light, no pressure or which corner information.

So, out of curiosity this morning, I went to the tire shop and asked them to read all five codes. Just read them, nothing else. There are five different codes, all working and communicating with the computer on my 2017 Limited.

So, in 2017, on the Limited at least, it does read five, not four, codes. I think all models can read five codes on newer trucks.

Always knew there were five physical sensors on the Limited. Reminded every time the spare needs a top off in negative 20 weather.

The discussion was are there four channels and four different codes (spare has a duplicate), or five channels and five different codes in 2017 if you have the Limited?

Was told by Toyota there were only four codes in 2017, but turns out there are five different codes.
