2017 trail & trd pro questions?

I would prefer if it were a TEP but I won't complain too much if I end up with a TRD OffRoad Premium unless some out of the blue changes mean I cannot get the same configuration (which I don't anticipate).

It's the only reason I haven't purchased my Trail badges yet. lol

Right, I understand that. That's why I want to know ASAP what the changes are so I can get a 2016 if I don't like something about the 2017. ;-) But I don't think it'll be a problem.

I live in Las Vegas. It's 110 degrees today. Useless during summer. It is subjective and I don't feel like subjecting my dome to 110 degrees of hot. I just picked up the 4Runner. I don't even know what it feels like to drive without MAX A/C on. :bowl:

I'm in az and love how quick I can turn off that max ac compared to having to drive in my old 4 cylinder for an hour to stop sweating!!

Atkinson Toyota buddy just did some research for me. the 2017 4runners will not be available until January. Late december at the absolute earliest. He is looking to see if there is even a white trail base available for him to get or order.

This actually made me think. When I had my Touareg the windshield was raked in such a way that even with Max AC the sun would always seem to rest on my legs and no matter how hard I tried/it tried I would always be cool waist up and on fire waist down...without fail.

Do you get the sun hitting your thighs in the 4Runner? Sometimes I think manufacturers don't think about this aspect of design.

Bummer. :-( Oh well, I can wait!

I'm just glad that the interior is not pre-2014. I would have never bought one with that Gen4 styled tri-pod gauge cluster. Every time I see it I cringe. Amazing how small changes like that make a vehicle more appealing.

Bummer. :-( Oh well, I can wait!

No, KDSS is an option for both TE and TEP vehicles.

I dunno about y'all but even though I rarely open my sunroof I use it quite often for checking my clearance when I have the RTT or other items stores on top of the roof.

I think I've opened it once in the last couple of years, just to use it because it's there. My husband hates it because of how much headroom is taken up by it, so I won't be getting a sunroof in my next one, I can live without it, plus I don't want to upgrade to "Premium" for it, I prefer cloth seats.

talked with my sales guy again. they dont have any available with kdss nor can they get any. it would be a custom order he is looking into timing and pricing to custom order a base with kdss right now.

On another note. The master tech was able to get rid of the shaking in the steering wheel by balancing the tires. he said whoever balanced them before was retarded haha. anyways it rides like a dream now. my only other complaint is how twitchy the steering feels, Ive heard about people using aftermarket UCA's and setting their caster farther positive to eliminate the twitchy steering.

Honestly I haven't run into this issue (yet). I've had the vehicle for only two weeks now and haven't found it to be noticeable. I'll give it some more time and let you know

OP, I got a TEP w/kdss for about that price in '15. I'm not saying you're being took, that was last year and in a different region than you. It could be your region doesn't get allocated any w/kdss. IDK but I've heard talk about that sort of thing in the past.
My 1st runner didn't have a sunroof but every one since has. Not the first option that I look for, neither is the chrome exhaust tip but I ended up with them anyway. KDSS is the big option that separates the Trails, if I have to leave my region to get kdss I would, that's me.
The trdp looks nice off the showroom floor but has no kdss and somehow ended up with auto headlights??? Just the auto headlights would discourage me from purchasing any vehicle. Other than the '15 Inferno, '16 quicksand, and '17 cement coloration on the trdp's, a person could cosmetically build a trail to look like the trdp for under a couple grand... but you still can't add kdss to the trdp.
In the end I feel all the trims have something good to offer in the ATRAC system. I'm not interested in the '17... I'm ready for a 6th gen.

Sunroof useless? I'm no giant at 6' tall but that's a pretty subjective comment. I've owned a sunroof on my vehicles for the past 15 years and I've used the crap out of them. Unless you have melanoma or you are a monstrous person they are used often by some people.

...

Do the seats not adjust down in the 4Runner?

I understand the OP's dilemma. I'm 6'6" (torso length is probably more relevant than overall height) and would have loved to have purchased a non-sunroof TEP. Really, I just wanted the synthetic leather but without most of the other Premium features.

In the end, I went with a TEP with KDSS, and I simply run the driver seat a little lower than I might normally. Passenger seat doesn't go down, however, so I'm not sure I'd want to be a passenger in my rig during off-road bumps. Could get a good whack to the head.

It's not ideal, but I do love the sunroof open, rear window down option...

I love my sunroof. Wouldn't buy one without it. I'm 6'2" and have no issues whatsoever. The driver's seat has a height adjustment so there shouldn't be an issue with clearance.

So I took a couple of drives and longer drives since you'd asked this and after thinking about it the sun does hit my thighs, but the almost straight down angle of the windshield prevents a large area of my legs from being hit by sun. Also, immediately after I purchased the vehicle I had a tint visor installed on the windshield which without I could see the heat being an issue, but after the install it seems to eliminate that issue.

I'mnot saying the sunroof is useless to others but it is for me. It takes up much valuable headroom. Forget wearing a cowboy hat or having tall friends ride comfortably as passengers. II'monly 5'11" and iit'san annoyance. Ive ridden in the back seat as well... what a hhorribly uncomfortable ride that is with the 3" drop in front of your forehead. One hard braking encounter and my forehead is smashing into the roof drop down.

iI'm contemplating waiting for 2017 to come or getting a 2016. When do Yall think 2017s will be aavailable for order?

I recently test drove a 4runner with a sunroof and it had plenty of room. I am also 5'11.

Greatest thing about the sunroof is the great ventilation. Sunroof and rear window open and you get awesome, quiet ventilation at highway speeds
