2017 w/ 16,000 miles leaking CV boot.

I have a theory that is probably wrong, but these boots will stretch over time. My first lift was a 1" leveling kit at about 45k miles. Then at 60k I went to 2" front, 1" rear. Then at a little over 77k I went to where I am now, which is around 3.5" front, 3" rear. I'm at just over 80k now, and the boots look great. I'm paranoid about them, so I check the all of the time. My point is, I wonder if not lifting too soon, and doing incremental lifts has allowed the boot to stretch a bit and help prevent it from tearing?

Are OEM clamps Oetiker style?
Yes. Equal clamping force around the circumference, cannot loosen on their own, don't abrade what they are clamping, etc.

As far as 295s go, 1.5" and 295/70/17 Ridge Grappler. No rubbing on the street, nothing but a fender liner mod.

Yea, if torn you'll have to pull out the entire CV joint and pull apart to put on the new boot. Kind of a pain. You may even want to pull it out yourself and have a professional put the CV boot on. I haven't done this on a 4Runner but on a VW Jetta I had to buy a special socket with 25 splines to get the outside bolt off. Then I think I had to bang out a ball joint to get the CV joint out.

Don't know about your torn boot but it does look like you're well above 2.5" When I was at 3" my CV angles were not even that sharp. With that said, run the 295, you will love it. I can tell you my 16 in this picture is lifted 1.5" with no BMC, just the fender liner mod, no rubbing on the body mount either. If done right, you do not need a BMC it's that simple. Caster set correctly, correct wheels, correct bump stops, no need for a BMC
