5.7 V8

A non 1990's era transmission.

Improved dash , forward looking cam for rock crawling.

Non gay sounding horn.

Greg,
I am glad you are here. You help me everyday. Not with 4Runner related items but by illustrating and helping me understand how others socially perceive an Engineer's behaviors and tone. I am much more aware of those items in myself now. And I see how I look to others. For that I say thank you - Brett

I understand exactly what you are saying. Somehow or other with all my faults I have stumbled blindly through life and managed to have a great family and a good life.

I learned a long time ago that you can't please everyone. In reality I really should not be here.

I think I understand you a bit more. In the balance of life sometimes there is a balance between social skills and engineering skills.

Um, get a room?

:frisky:

You have to look at it this way--in the bike world, you can be a PLAYER for 10k.:pimp:

Try that in the automotive realm.

Yep. Cyclists LOVE to get their ego on.

I can justify what I consider an expensive bike because I ride 16 miles round trip to work almost every day. I bought a titanium frame with good components SRAM force because it rides great and I crash sometimes. Part of life commuting. Never worry about the bike. And good components last for a long time and almost never need tuneups. Ive put about 10k miles on it so far and I figure its paid for its self in gas savings by now.

The difference between a $2k bike and a $10k one is negligible. But if it makes someone happy I'm all for it.

1.The most basic thing that I can think of that is missing is a way to toggle all of the interior lights on from a switch on the dash! Every car that I can think of has this function. My 2014 Tundra does it, why is this not included? Does this not annoy anyone else?

2. Replace the cheap plastic door panels and plastic in the cargo area. It gets scratched up way too easy. Same goes for the tundra. My dodge, jeep and Chevys don't look 10 years old after 3 months of use.

3. Update entune to Garmin navigation system, built in GPS is clunky and ugly.

4. Include remote start and smart keys on trail premium and sr5 premium as standard items.

5. Auto rear hatch lift.

1.) HID
2.) Direct injection engine from 2016 Tacoma
3.) 6 speed auto

If I was Toyota, I would drop one of the trim (there are 3 right now, Sr5, trail, limited), excluding TRD.

It would simplify manufacturing, after sales parts and warehousing. I would keep SR5 & Limited, with the TRD Pro as the special edition and drop Trail.

If I was really in charge and answered to no one...

I would have diesel v6 w/ 6 speed auto, HID, adaptive cruise control, no more entune garbage and go with Android auto OS or iOS for autos.

Well the trail edition is a hot seller since when they come in they are gone in a few days.

This is why the rental agencies have trail editions. Super easy to sell for almost new value after a year of rental use.

I don't think the special editions cost much more. Most of the parts are just "Toyota parts bin" stuff.

What I'd like:

1. Turbo v6 with 400hp 400ftlbs, 23mpg

2. 8-10spd auto

3. 4:1 transfer case (although the auto could have 1 super low gear and stick with the 2.6:1

4. Aluminum body - drop 5-700lbs

5. Standard features from even cheap Hyundai economy cars or better yet everything my RX350 has that doesn't add significant weight: Smart Key, auto headlights, heated rear seats, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, HID turning headlights,

Accessory switches built in - see Ford trucks for example

Dream List:

Panoramic roof ala Range Rover Evoque - but removable. The RR is damned near a convertible if the glass was removable. That and removable doors (I can do this on my own and/or add half doors) and its competing pretty directly with the wrangler.

Front body mount re-design so at least 33's fit with no or minimal lift and 35s' with 3" lift. And bigger stronger front differential to handle it.

Front e-locker.

Built in winch tray behind bumper and quick release front bumper cover.

Roof structure that supports a decent rack - 1000lb load rating.

Ambulance doors with roll down windows!!!

Factory rock sliders

I don't want a diesel, but it would be a nice option. The diesel SUVs on the mkt right now are both slower, dirtier, and more expensive than their gas counterparts. I would love Toyota's 4.5L v8 turbo diesel, but it would be $10K+ more and probably not do anything a 3.5 0r 4.0L twin turbo gasser would other than mpg, but the mpg will never break even due to the high cost of diesel fuel, urea, etc. I'd rather have a lite hybrid with a capacitor.

Sr5 with all wheel drive
Pr tailgate
Memory seats
Softer leather seats with more cush
Entune that works
Taller windshield for more view
Limited nose on Sr.5
Better turning radius
Just my wish list, really like it in current form also. So much fun to drive.
