2018 TRD Pro Colors...Cement?

Think I may have finally convinced myself to try to get a cement TRD pro. If for some reason I can't find a cement for MSRP around my area (Austin, TX)...I could hold for a 2018.

I am pretty partial to the cement, and if it's not confirmed it will be a color option for 2018...then that may make me start getting serious about my search quicker (not sure I would budge at paying more than MSRP).

Any rumors about the colors for the TRD Pro for 2018?

Been lurking on this forum pretty often for the past 6-8mo...and finally woke up today ready to likely do something. If so, I'll be that guy who paid for a TRD Pro to get the cement color...that will rarely (if ever) take it off pavement. Or maybe when I have a vehicle that CAN actually go off payment...I'll have a new hobby.

Cement will not be a 2018 color. White will carry over, one of the standard colors will be used, and a new color will replace cement that replaced quicksand that replaced inferno. The "special" color will follow the history of being an FJC color.

Not sure if that is entirely true because the FJTT was in this order: Black, Iceberg, Sandstorm, Army Green, Radiant Red, Cement, then Heritage Blue. If this is the last 5th gen TRDP, that means it may be "Heritage Blue".

I didn't say it was an FJ TT color or in the order of the FJ TT. Just that it is an FJC color.

If projections are correct for 2018 I believe there will be way more to be interested in other than paint colors.

What projections do you speak of? From all the threads on the this forum...sure sounds like no changes for 2018. But, it's anyone's guess at this point...

They've never repeated a "special" color, so there's no reason to think that they'd do it this / next year. I say all the following as a TRDP owner, so take what you will with a grain of salt. If I had it to do over again- as in, if I was in your position, knowing what I now know I would do the following:

Test drive a TRDOR KDSS and Non-KDSS equipped Runner to see which one you like. Then buy whichever model you end up liking and paint that thing whatever color you want. You'll have ~3k to lift, armor up, tires, etc AND way less (justifiable?) headache / wait / cost.

Buy and replace the badging if it bothers you that much not to have a TRDP. For what it's worth, the LE still having XREAS full time 4WD with a Center Differential could actually be more worthwhile to you (pavement only as you said) than the part time 4WD (no center diff) / rear locker / crawl control that come on the TRDP.

As a 6-8 month lurker you probably could have guessed that someone would say this but it's totally true. Whatever you choose, good luck.

My KDSS TEP was $38k with employee discount. Seeing that there are tons of Pros on cars.com for $43k (MSRP), I don't see how you could change the color, add wheels, tires, and grille for the $5k difference. A good paint job is going to run you $5k. Looking at future resale, you are far better off buying the vehicle as close to what you ultimately want from the factory.

Did NOT know Pro colors changed each year! Going to pass this along to my co-worker who has his heart set on Cement.

Hard to get good information for the 4Runner since it is Japan built. I try to pry what I can out of my contacts, but the situation seems to change with some regularity.

I'm over in Hurricane now. Is the Parsons in your name based on the town? I pass through Parsons, WV on the way to my parents' house. I was just through there this morning.

Couple things since you're in Cedar Park:

Direct from our sales manager in conversation regarding trading up on my '16 SR5: Toyota of Cedar Park will be getting ONE of EACH TRD Pro model in EACH color in appx 30 days. He said 45 days about 2 weeks ago so probably closer to 30 days now.

He also told me Toyota will NOT be doing a TRD Pro 4Runner or Tundra for 2018. Reason being for the 4Runner is that there was not going to be an '18 4Runner at all due to CAFE standards. The introduction of more fuel efficient models to the line-up (likely those grafted back over from Scion as well as new models such as the C-HR) allowed Toyota to continue producing the 4Runner and it is now guaranteed, in its current form, through 2020, when if there is still a 4Runner, it will get a major refresh.

TL;DR - No TRD Pro for 2018 but 4runner in current from until 2020

Interesting info because my buddy is a GM at a local Toyota dealership here and told me the 4R was being converted into a unibody style SUV after 18'. No longer body on frame design because of the same CAFE standards. Who knows? Time will tell

I had heard similar things about the 4Runner being cancelled for MY18. Then I heard they were researching ways to make it more fuel efficient. I also heard no Pro for MY18... but I'm seeing one in my ordering system. Like I said above, 4Runner has been all over the place as far as product planning.
