Mine is very unreliable. It requires me to spend money on it every week...at the gas station.

You seem very upset about CR giving a less-than-stellar rating to the 2018 T4R and me inquiring into the matter so I have to ask: Are you getting enough ketchup? Ketchup contains natural mellowing agents that can help maintain composure in online fora.
CR bashes anything from FCA fairly harshly. Am I to disregard those ratings in addition to the high ratings that Toyota products routinely earn? The guys over at the Jeep forum say I should. That and anything from IIHS or Euro NCAP, such as the 1-star safety rating given to the new JL Wrangler. They assure me such ratings are useless because they heard of a guy who got into a wreck in the JL and wasn’t killed.
By all means, name your candidate for independent, reliable reviews. So easy to cast stones when you don’t so much as live in a house.
It’s like an angsty teenager who laments “Everthing sucks! But me: I am cool!”
Our candidate(s) is all the members here on the forum that actually own a 4R.
Nothing like feedback from peoples whos asses are in the seats.
4Runner owners say 4Runners are the best on this forum.
Wrangler owners say Wranglers are the best on the Wrangler forum.
Landrover owners say Landrovers are the best on the Landrover forum.
Apparently, they are all correct.

I mean CR is owned by a nonprofit and uses a membership model for payments, does not advertise in it's magazine, and has a great reputation. It's probably the least biased reviewer available and it's ratings are based on survey's and input from actual owners (who have owned the vehicle for at least 12 months, not new owners like other ratings agencies) as well as their own reviews, this is just clearly some kind of automation error as made evident by the category breakout for predicted reliability and the fact that CR predicted reliability ratings are based on the past 3 model years which are all good.
Not all here says they are the best. There is plenty of ***** threads.
I'm a Chevy guy and I still say the (2) TBSS's I've owned are hands down the best vehicles I've owned. But those are past vehicles and I currently own (2) Toyotas. While my 4R is new and no problems my wifes Highlander is another story.

I couldn't care less what CR says, I wouldn't even bother reading their magazine. Again, do homework from private owners. That is where you get a true and honest review. I think you belong in a Jeep and I wish you luck. I've owned Jeeps all my life, they used to be incredible vehicles. Not so much anymore though. Know how I know that? Nope, not CR! It's called research into personal reviews from actual owners. Not some douche that drive it for a few hours on a track.
I don't want this news to shock you, so I hope you're sitting down.
But I don't find your logic to be compelling and thus am not attaching any significance to your opinion.
There may be others here who find your wisdom to be of value, so feel free to opine as you see fit.

It's CR, take what they have to say with a grain of salt. Do you see people on these forums with 2018 4Runners with all kinds of problems? This guy is a troll looking for attention, don't even waste your time on him. 2/5 means 60% of 2018 4Runners are unreliable, I think not.

Indeed, it stands in stark opposition to the truth. The foil hat wearers think the moon landings were faked, 9/11 was an inside job, and that vaccines cause autism. Why? Because they believe anything typed by Internet randos (and broadcast on Coast to Coast AM).
When their team loses, they blame the refs, who were implementing a conspiracy put forward by the league to increase advertising revenue. Of course, when their team wins, it’s because they were rooting for them.
You can measure the degree of fanboyism in a vehicle community by the voracity with which CR, IIHS, NHTSA, Euro NCAP, etc. are cast as being part of a biased cabal dead set on making their preferred ride look bad.
A few folks here are trying their best to match what the Wrangler community is laying down in fanboyism. I can only hope they don’t achieve the critical mass to drown us all in their Koolaid.
I question the rating, too. Hence the inquiry here and the inquiry to CR. I am grateful for the calm, earnest responses that were the wheat among the chaff.
Calling for a circling of the wagons and battle stations/red alert is a bit over the top. The Ketchup Advisory Board truly wants to help you with that short fuse.
Don't get me wrong, I love my 4runner. Been wanting one for years. Even contemplating the 2020 model with the upgrades.
