I think those comments were related more to the high murder rate in Chicago, and less about race.

Possibly... but the so-called concern about the murder rate in Chicago is a pretty common right-wing talking point that some racists like to use.

He probably should have said it was going to be for the St. Louis market which I believe is the current murder capital of the USA. Chicago just gets reported on the news more often and people think it holds the record.
So maybe the Nightshade 4runner will be murdered out and sold in the St. Louis and Baltimore markets.

Those who want to bring up or interject an automotive discussion with label of racism... those persons are usually the racists.

People like to bring up Chicago because it makes it sound like Obama is personally responsible for the murder rate. Maybe I'm just touchy because I'm from Baltimore and bummed out that Chicago steals our dangerous-city cred though it has less than half the murder rate.
