2019 4Runner TRD Pro pricing

Hi All,

Long time lurker, thank you to all for sharing your experiences. I'm now in the market for a 2019 4Runner TRD Pro.

Yesterday was at the local dealer (southeast), trade-in appraisal on my 2016 4R TRD ORP good, but 2019 4R TRD Pro selling at MSRP???
Dealers in the area not budging on the 4R TRD Pro MSRP, but have negotiating room on the 2019 4R Trail Premiums.

Seeking your 2019 4R TRD Pro buying experiences.

Looks like some are getting some $'s off of the TRD Pro. The 2020 is coming soon with new updates (not much but some) so the prices on the 2019 should go down. Also, go ask them about a discount on a TRD Pro on the last day of any month when they are trying to reach their bonus numbers.

Also, the TRD Trail Premium's name was changed recently to TRD Off-road Premium.
 
Why would they budge? It's guaranteed to sell and in a lot of markets they are straight up marking it up $5-10k and people are paying that, no questions asked.
 
I contacted like 6 that were near me, and every single one wanted $5k over MSRP, firm. Special color, non-special color, didn't matter. When I told them I'm pay MSRP and be there in 30 mins, or I was driving 2 hours to get one for MSRP the next morning, they told me 'Have a nice day'.

Same, same. Sought dealer in CA, OR, WA, NV. Montana told me they would only sell to Montana residents, Colorado dealers by far were the biggest joke. Stumbled onto one right in my backyard that was 3 weeks out from being delivered to the nearby dealer. One email, two phone calls, telephonic hand shake for msrp deal. This opened up an area I had not thought about, inquiring to what was inbound to the dealers not just what was on hand.
 
Why not try for an Off-Road or Off-Road Premium?

I got my TRD OR for $36K.

Sticker was 40K.

Just seems like the better deal.
 
I don't know why anyone would bother with the Pro, unless you just have to have voodoo blue. I could maybe understand paying the premium if a V8 or a diesel were optional in the Pro, but it isn't. It's the same powertrain across all trim levels, and any other differences can be installed aftermarket for far less cash. $5k to $10k premium is expensive lipstick.
 
I initially went in for a pro but due to the limited amount in the area and the pricing I went with the off-road premium with KDSS. The only things you aren't getting are the Nitto tires, TRD wheels, Fox suspension, the 1" front lift, Pro roof rack, Pro Grille, and black valances. And the only Pro color not available in the Off Road is the voodoo blue. So I purchased a 19 MGM OR Premium, got the TRD wheels, the Nitto Tera Grapplers, cartrimhome pro grille, and am going to black out the silver valances and emblems, and get cornfed spacers to raise the front 1". With all that I'm still a decent amount below the MSRP of the Pro. It just then comes down to the stock vs Fox suspension which for me was not an issue.
 
increased search radius

Thank you for your feedback. I increased my search radius going all the way east and west where I am by 70mi or so. All came back @ msrp.

However it was interesting when I reached out to one dealer @ 100mi from where I am and they had a TRD Pro listed @ ~$46K this was $2K below MSRP. But several phone calls with them and before I planned to drive up there I asked for pics to confirm. Then I get to know truck was dealer traded that same day and truck on lot had different options and not at previous quoted. Not worth the drive.

Given, the time and all the hassle, I might just wait a bit until I have the energy to go spend some time at a dealer to trade current 2016 Trail Premium with 2019 TRD ORP or just hold until the 2020's come out.

Some dealerships well sell them for sticker if you can find one in stock. Most are marking up sticker $3k-$5k from what I've been seeing. Im going to order a 2020 Offroad Premium and make it look like a pro and add better aftermarket suspension.

I got my 2018 TRD Pro with sliding cargo tray, 3M window tint, extra all weather floor mats, clear bra, door edge guards, and door cup guards for $41,997 plus tax title and tag. Paperwork listed the savings as $5,685 but some of that was due to the add-ons. The actual MSRP before the add-ons was $45,187, so I got $3,190 plus the add-ons for free... so 7% under MSRP.

No haggling either. That was the first offer. I thought the dealer may have made a mistake, so I didn't try to push for a better deal.

I live in NC as well. I was able to buy my Pro new in 2017 for roughly 5% below MSRP. The dealer I worked with currently has two 2019 Pros on the lot, I'm sure they'll deal. PM me if interested.

The color was definitely part of it.

Beyond that, my time/money ratio is way out of whack with the time side of the equation. Hell, it took me 4 weeks just to get to a local dealer to try and check one out with my schedule, not to mention my other cars that consume my time and garage space.

I really just wanted to get what I wanted/liked, out the door, ready to use for some fun, in a single transaction.

Location (Region pricing) seems to play a big part of pricing, regardless of color. I noticed a few VB's in the southern region going for $45k, with cargo tray, and some had a few other options as well. (I checked with them and a lower price was possible).

Here in the NW, no such luck. Took my daughter to see a VB one nearby, which is listed at $55k. You can get them cheaper around here, and in Portland. Also, here color is a variable. Usually the blues are the big markup ones, but others have listed white and black higher as well. Can't wait to see what they do with next years green. Maybe start at $60k?
I only say this because the wife said it would be okay to look into a newer one if I was interested, so I've researched prices around the country for the past few months.
PS. Barcelona Red Pro? Nice!

Of course it's a better deal. I paid $36.5 K for my 2018 ORP w/18K miles but that included a 100K mile warranty (which I doubt I'll use, but good for resale). I am proud of my ORP. Plus: sunroof (they have them now, I know), no ridiculous roof rack, color selection (I wanted Silver), and freedom to modify suspension without feeling guilty about removing the main differentiating factor for TRD Pros.

I love seeing the TRD pros but I can't help but feel like every driver got ripped off when buying one. That is until they resell it - crazy resale values on those are legit and cannot be discounted.

I sound like a hater, I'm not. If I could buy one at MSRP in the color and options I want I would. It's Toyotas best vehicle IMO.
