2020+ TPMS sensors. What is the deal?

I am interesting in CLONING them OEM's.
No shops want to guarantee a "no light" situation with some saying they are different and their software is not up-to-date. :crazy:

I want to keep the feature, not bypass, as it is one I actually appreciate.
If you added a second set of wheels and cloned the OEM, which sensors and tool did you use?

They are the same TPMS sensors as before, you can order generic. You can either clone them or just buy new sensor and scan them then load into your ecu.

I used the ATEQ Quickset X to do it and it was straightforward. Most shops do not have a TPMS tool that speak to the 20-21 yet. You don't have to clone if you buy the ATEQ. You can load it into the ECU and it automatically identifies and recognizes each corner.

Contrary to popular belief, the ECU will not magically find new TPMS that aren't cloned. You need to load the ID's into the ECU.

Is the ATEQ tool limited to ONLY their sensors?

No issue swapping at all and the ATEQ system will read anything compatible frequency wise. The AUTEL toolsets require their tools, but you can clone easily with them.

I don't think you need to clone though, if you get your own tool it takes 1-2 minutes to do the swap and then your 4Runner corrects itself before you are even out of the neighborhood.

On my personal rig, it went into the learning sequence and never picked them up over 75 miles of driving. Bought the ATEQ and fixed it in minutes. I guess I'm just not sure why some have problems and others dont?

They were Denso (Pacific) sensors, same as OEM.

Other cables work to program some things, but won't program sensors (will read them). The VXDIAG works great and comes with Techstream (hacked copy like every other version out there). Been using it for a couple years now.

When I bought a set of knockoff wheels OEWheels (great replicas BTW) bought some tpms from them & claim they're Toy . IDK but they worked when we cloned them to truck never had a problem yet !

Yep, avoid those. They work for many features, but not TMPS. I bought two just like those and junked them.

I misplaced my sensor codes for my winter set on my Land Cruiser so went to discount to program. Using Toyota as the model wouldn't work, but LX570 did.

I wonder if they try GX460 on the newer models if it will work...

Find ONE scanner than can do everything, and bundle it with the highest quality sensors KNOWN to work, no questions asked.

At least Toyota is going in the right direction with the learn feature. Tpms.com is a good source. I find that Denso/Pacific cross reference is not always accurate.
