2020 TRD Pro Updates - Army Green & Push Button Start

Yeah the website is a joke right now, seems like they're not done updating. The specs/compare is all wrong... e.g. the limited now no longer has 15 speaker JBL, which i'm guessing is not the case.

You know it seems the more we talk about it
It only makes it worse to live without it
But let's talk about it...

I hope they get all the bugs figured out as there are so many obvious mistakes...

No push buttons for rear window on the back hatch
Turn signals on Pro mirrors
Can’t build a ORP or Venture with KDSS and moonroof

...:frusty:

Seems like the 2020 page finally went up? At least according to their interior shots when using the builder it doesn't look like auto climate in the ORP. I'm praying that it's all a cruel joke and it will be standard on all ORP models, maybe the dealer messed up the photo, etc. I know I'm not gonna get lucky but it's a real bummer. No clue how it can be standard up in CA but not down here. Must just be trying to get rid of the last of the units. Maybe they will switch later this year? Who knows.

Let it go. Dual climate control is going to be a Limited/Pro-only feature. Gotta justify the price bump. It’s not going to be on the ORP or the SR5P. Not now; not sometime later in the MY. Let it go.

Agreed.

Still, I want to know about this KDSS compatible TRD skid plate...

I spoke with 2 dealers today about the Army Green. One had no idea when they'd be getting one and the other has one coming around the end of the month. They weren't marking up over MSRP, but I get the $500 grad bonus cash. They were going to install like $1,750 of dealer crap which I talked them out of.

MSRP $50,825, OTD w/ Discount $52,896.72. There is like $799 in doc fees and some $224 non tax fee that I'm going to go talk to them about on Saturday.

Am I an idiot for buying this?!

Does anyone know if the radar cruise square gets in the way of the Pro grill insert? I guess I'm asking if the 2020 Pro grill is a different part than the 2019 and lower one. That chrome strip is hideous and I want to get it replaced asap.

I don't see why it would, and I hope not because I already ordered the parts lol.

So I've been debating between getting a 2019 at discount, a 2020 ORP or go all out with the Army Green TRD Pro... as one might expect I've decided to go with the most expensive option lol. I figure since I plan on owning the vehicle for a very long time I mine as well go with the one I want most and price difference in the long run won't be too big of an issue plus I would expect the Army Green TRD to hold its value the best of the 3 options.... we will see. Anyways this is my experience so far:

I've contact 5 dealers in my area (Colorado)
Dealer #1 This is the one I went to in person and they couldn't provide much info and said they plan on marking them up 5-10k...
Dealer #2 Said they also have a 5k addendum and are currently "sold out" on the army greens
Dealer #3 This is the first dealer that said they'd sell at MSRP +$500 dealer fee but they have around 10 people on the waitlist and said I most likely wouldn't have one allocated until next year.
Dealer #4 Said they would sell a MSRP + $600 dealer fees and have no one on the waitlist. This is a smaller dealer but he still felt confident he could get one to me pretty quick. Almost went with this one until...
Dealer #5 First dealer that said they'd sell it to me at MSRP and have zero dealer fees. They said they have 3 people on the waitlist but also 3 Army Greens in production already. They also said I would have say over what options are or are not added. The sales guy said they move the most Toyotas in the state so seemed pretty confident I wouldn't be waiting too long so I decided to put a deposit down with them.

I have mixed feelings because this will be significantly more than I've spent on any vehicle in the past but considering the insane resell value here in Colorado I figure it is not a major risk if I decide I want to go with something else in the future although I think ill be pretty happy with this for a long time to come

Lol your search process almost matches mine exactly. (except I ended up with a dealer that wouldn't budge on the dealer fee, but sold for MSRP and should arrive in 2 weeks)

I think you made the right decision with the TRD PRO. In 2016 I regretted not getting a Quicksand color TRD Pro at MSRP (my absolute fav color), and in the years since when looking to buy one, I have not seen one with less than 30,000 miles for less than 4k off its original MSRP. So the depreciation on these is super slow, especially for the unique color ones. Didnt mind paying the premium for the TRD PRO over the TRD Offroad Premium because I am super confident I am going to get that premium back plus more when it comes to resell (if I ever resell)

I am used to buying 20k Civics and Camrys so dropping what is going to be around 55k after tax for a 4runner is tough but its what I've always wanted so I bit the bullet.

i am in a similar situation....it would be approx 55k out the door...VERSUS a 2020 ORP for 6-7k less but then id probably end up putting more than 6-7k into the ORP so i am just like might as well get what i want stock and drive it stock..but i still wonder if it is right decision...

In my opinion you guys did the right thing. I wouldn't pay over list for the vehicle, but I get it how some dealers will mark it up - especially if there's a demand/people willing to pay it.

I'm in a similar situation as well, as this will be the most exensive vehicle I've ever purchased. My previous was a new 2011 RAV4 V6, so this is almost twice as much! I'll be paying the majority of it with cash and financing only 10K, but still... that's a lot of cash when you're not used to paying that much for a car.

I know the 3K price increase over last year's TRDP sucks. But something had to go up after adding a new head unit, MID display (mutli-information display) by the gauges, Toyota Safety Sense, and hoping there's truth to the TRD Cat-Back exhaust being standard on Pros. If I would've stuck with my 2019 TRDP order, I would've upgraded the head unit anyway (~$1K). But the issue there is that I'd probably be kicking myself in the rear every time I saw an Army Green 2020 TRDP.

I do generally keep my vehicles for awhile though and I envision myself keeping this one until 200K miles at least. I just recently sold our 2006 Sienna (which we bought in 2009) and I was itching to sell it the past few years. I was just waiting for the right timing. E.G. No longer need the huge trunk cargo space of a minivan and the kids got a little older so they weren't spilling crumbs and juice all over the seats anymore.

When my wife and I started our family in 2009, the car that I wanted back then was an FJ Cruiser in Army Green, Brick Red, or Black Cherry Pearl. But, I knew that car would be impractical for a family with a newborn and looking to add more kids. We're done with kids (ages 8 and the older will be 10 next month) and I can't wait to go on many adventures in the new 4Runner!

Did you already pick up your 2020? You may be the first 2020 owner. I am looking to get that exact model and have all the same issues as you with that ugly new chrome strip in the grill and Toyota needs to force retirement on the crew making these decisions. About ready to start ordering mods before I even get the car.

But wait... lol

Yeah, I saw this earlier and just does not square with the actual pics - though the pics on autotrader are not all that great. I don’t see anything that indicates dual climate - but will have to go through the horrible pics again or simply wait til they come out. I did notice a new interior Beige Softex on the SRV Premiums though - that is new isn’t it?

Is anybody seeing the dash cam option on the US site? I have seen the option listed on US build sheets dealers have sent me.

I found mine at 2am the night before I got it. I got exactly the configuration I wanted. It was just a random search and luckily my family was down for a 3 hour drive that next day. I've had the grill in my cart for a very long time, I just want to know for sure before I take the stock one off. I guess I could just dremel off anything that is interfering. I'm shooting for a C4 low-pro (no bars) in the next few months and I'm hoping it doesn't stick out far enough to mess with the radar cruise.

IMHO would be silly to pay huge markup for that. Wait until Black Friday and get yourself way more for your money. I am happy with my Max360c/M-1 combo I got last year Escort direct work off same power hardwire and look low profile with blendmount. I posted about it in thread somewhere here you could probably find with quick search.

Cheers - JC

:pop2: see my kids before Christmas post few pages back. To be fair I am not waiting for one (aka - no present waiting under tree for me).

I spoke to my dealer today. They always said early October, but now are saying late September for mine. We put the deposit down for an Army Green TRD Pro in April.
Where do you live? I am going to get an update, but I was told second week of Oct. I live in Edmonton.

Got an update on my Army Green TRDP!

Dealer Arrival: 9/17 - 9/23

See attached photo for other key dates throughout the build/ship process.

They've had my deposit since January 2019, when it was actually a deposit for a 2019 TRDP. Cancelled the 2019 reservation and switched it to the 2020 in February after the announcement of the AG color and 2020 changes.
I'm jealous.
