I don't think any of us expected any different, but I spoke to a Toyota Product Specialist today who said the powertrain is a complete carryover for 2020 - no 6AT or 8AT as some hoped.
SadI know it's what we all suspected. How trustworthy is the source? Also, did you happen to catch the time frame when the first ones are expected to ship out?
Unfortunately, very reputable. This PS was here looking at a squeaking noise my dealer can't fix in the front end of my 4R, and we talked a bit about the updates. I asked if there would be any changes above and beyond what was announced for the TRD Pro and he said no.
Expect them around the end of September, beginning of October.

Everything I’ve read puts us early 80s births at Gen-Y/millennials. We share more with millennials than gen X because of being exposed to the era of information in our formative years versus seeing it for the first time as an adult.

The Army green looks pretty good in those pictures but the pics aren't that accurate. There is an army green FJ that I see driving around near me and it looks bad. I don't know if the PRO will ever hit the sweet spot for me. I loved Inferno, Cement and Cavalry blue but a sunroof is a must have for me. They finally added the sunroof but I don't think I could live with the Voodoo blue and I really hate the new roof rack. Oh well.
I'm same.... I was all about the Cav Blue and you don't know how hard I tried for eight months while on waitlist for mine to snipe a Canadian Cavblue with a sunroof... but wasn't meant to be because up there is even more difficult to get than down here. Regardless, lack of sunroof was only thing that bothered me at purchase because it is only thing I couldn't reasonably bring myself to "fix" without letting a autotrim shop chop a hole in my roof and hatchet my headliner for something aftermarket that would likely squeak and leak down the road a few years. But I loved the Blue so much I got it without the sunroof, and believe it or not, guess what I don't miss. I actually like the silence and extra headroom.
Just opinions, but I'm very happy with the '18 Cavblue and like you also not a fan of the Voodoo/Army tints and certainly not the new rack though all of these things seem very popular with others. As for the other new model perks, I wish I had the fox setup, I might be interested in the new 2020 head unit although my OE Audio+ setup sounds way better than the 2019 pro system with the JBL "premium" sound. I'm not really about the safety sense aside from the adaptive cruise which is cool on road trips BUT that lunchbox -looking sensor they strapped to front end in my opinion upsets the otherwise super cool aesthetic of the Pro front end. Don't know why they couldn't have more seamlessly integrated that... or added signal mirrors & puddle lights perhaps>? I digress and repeat belabored rants from earlier in the thread.

Is it even possible to buy a Canadian model and import it to the states without an incredible amount of hassle?

Depends on your definition of hassle. Yes it is possible and given the relative strength of our dollar to theirs, the acquisition cost differential posed in much higher Canadian destination charges and US import duties is basically washed out by the exchange rate. Also buying in AB province is a plus because even though it is more remote, AB is exempt from the general govt tax up there so you save decent bit. Also I have family in Edmonton that would have assisted the transaction so that is a head start because most Canadian dealers will only sell to citizens. There actually apparently was a directive about this from Toyota corporate in in Canada regarding the TRD Pro line through 2017 but it was released by 2018 and many Dealers don't know this and/or choose not to deviate.
That said, the Pro allocations up there are very much more restricted than in US... I carefully watched dealer inventory for six months and saw perhaps less than ten Cavblue Pros in that timeframe arrive at all dealerships in BC and AB. Of those all but two were spoken for preorders and those remaining two were gone within a day of arrival (before I could make arrangements). One of the dealers was willing to sell direct to me in BC which is just 3 hours north of where I live in Seattle area but I needed an emissions compliance letter from Toyota Canada in order to import and license it in WA. This letter is a simple request from dealer but represents extra work and while I was trying to get them to agree to that, a local customer showed up and offered more without the hassle... so too bad for me. The other available one" was in Calgary not to far from where my Uncle lives but this dealer would only sell to my uncle and in trying to work out those logistics, same thing happened with another customer showing up ready to buy.... so anything that presents extra work/uncertainty for a dealer to sell a vehicle in extremely high demand isn't something that is going to happen when they can just take someone else's money without doing that work. I could have put deposits in Canada, but you risk losing that money because until you actually get allocated the vehicle you can't get an emissions letter specific to that vehicle and I didn't want to roll the dice that much about something going sideways where I can't bring in the new $50k rig I just bought and license it in US.
In the end it was an educational experience and I was entertaining this process because the Canadian Pro config seemed more ideal to me. The Canadian TRD Pros in 2018 where exactly the same as US models in all respects except the sunroof, side mirror indicators and puddle lights, and a cluster that favors metric units. It was so weird to me that they made them this way in Canada and not here and even more so weird that when they finally put a sunroof on the 2019 US Pro, it does not have the side mirrors with indicators and neither does the 2020, Seems like the Canadian setup was how it should have been but many down here prefer no sunroof and up there they are stuck with it.
Probably TMI for most in this thread but interesting for some to know perhaps. In the end, mine is super nice and while the lack of sunroof was big apprehension for me during purchase process, I don't miss it at all. The cab is plenty open and light and then headroom actually is much more spacious and I do believe it removes additional environmental noise while driving which allows me to enjoy my thoughts (uhhm hope that makes sense).
Cheers.

I guess the best way would have been to get a family member to purchase it and then you could have given them the money. Then they could have sold it to you for $1 in a private sale.
Not sure how this would work in Canada, but after being jerked around by more than one dealer here in Phoenix, I looked into another option. My bud Rich had purchased a new 2019 Limited and said buying thru AAA was a great experience. I had heard thru LOTS of people on here that a TRD Pro was excluded form buying programs and I knew for a fact that the Costco program DID exclude the Pro. But, AAA Car Buying did not, got my 2019 Pro delivered to my house Tuesday night and paid sticker. I hope this helps other buyers looking for a Pro.
