IMO that is more of a "forest green" maybe its just the pictures or I'm color blind lol. Just was hoping for more of olive drab green, I think that is more "army green."

A question for those who know more about CarPlay than I do:
What’s the long term outlook for CarPlay, say, 5 or 10 years from now for vehicles that were built in 2019/2020?
Most of us upgrade our phones every 2-3 years and get a massive jump in hardware and software simultaneously. When you spend $45-50k on a new vehicle, the only thing you can update is software. As is well documented, newer software releases tend to be taxing on older hardware and often result in slower load times, freezing, reboots, etc.
I am one who keeps my vehicles for years and would keep a 4Runner for many years if not decades. I know there is a lot of excitement about CarPlay and Android Auto, but I am actually more concerned about what they’re like to use in a car ten years from now when there are ten more generations of software running on ten year old hardware.
Anyone have any insights or experience?

With both Carplay and Android Auto all the heavy processing is done by your phone. So its just the synchronization that the head unit needs to be able to handle. Probably be some software updates every so often, but the necessary hardware upgrades occur when you upgrade your phone. Should be fully functional for the life of most vehicles, and a hell of a lot longer than any interface Toyota was cooking up.
I used AAA Car Buying here in Phoenix and paid sticker on my 2019 Pro. Hope that helps

Any idea when it is likely to be available in Texas? I need to replace my vehicle around mid-late September and really hope I can pick up a 2020 TRD Off Road Premium then...

(FYI I've been lurking for 3 years looking for 6th gen info, and waiting to buy a new 4 Runner for the same amount of time. Decided to create an account to comment on your linked article)
The 4 Runner in the review does indeed have the push button start and a new center head unit, so I trust these aren't old stock photos. But it seems the instrument panel in the pictures is different than the one Toyota teased. Makes me wonder if this unit was simply provided for review, with more changes coming.
I had convinced myself that the 2020 changes were an indication that Toyota was sticking with this model another few years. And, therefore, I had also convinced myself it would be time to pick up a 2020. Seeing how minimal these changes are, however, makes me think this could in fact be a 1-2 year stop-gap until the 6th gen arrives.
On an unrelated note, I've seen a voodoo blue on a Toyota lot in Calgary Alberta (Henninger) for the past couple weeks, in case anyone was looking for one with a sunroof. No idea on the asking price.

Those interior photos are simply of a 2019 Nightshade limited. Which already had push button.
