2020 TRD Pro Updates - Army Green & Push Button Start

For those of you that have pre-ordered non-Pros, did you already negotiate price? I already did, and was wondering if I should feel bad for settling my ORP w/ KDSS at invoice. I figured there would the novelty factor would hamper any negotiation, and was wondering what your guys' experiences are. It sucks seeing guys getting 2019s at 10-16% off regularly in the other thread.

Wondering if I should've been patient and waited to get a better deal later on in the year...

Did you go into your dealer to order the new 2020?

I am looking to build a Limited, are dealers taking down payments already?

I put a deposit down in August for the Pro, lucked out and got in the first allocation in Western Canada. (I was the first at the dealership to do so) No idea on the limiteds, but said they had very little if no control over what other Pros they would get for the rest of the year.

They've had my deposit since January 2019, when it was actually a deposit for a 2019 TRDP. Cancelled the 2019 reservation and switched it to the 2020 in February after the announcement of the AG color and 2020 changes.

I plan to purchase in November. My hope is that by then, there will be a sufficient number of 2020 T4Rs in the wild. It’ll still be early in the model year, to be sure. But I’m hoping there will be stock on hand to match my preferences within my area.

Hey, where did you get this info, from the dealer I am guessing? I also have one with a deposit, and dealer said it should hopefully arrive by Sept 23rd, so I'm thinking he is looking at the same portal you got your screenshot from.

Basically, my question is do we customers have access to this info or only the dealers do and we have to request it from them? I have my VIN if that helps.

JUST got a call from my dealer. Mine is in Montana. They're expecting it on or around 9/27.

I got the info from my dealer. If yours is assigned a VIN #, he should be able to send you a screenshot to some portal tool that tells you the same information.

Regular customers like us do not have access to that tool, unless you have some insider that works at Toyota.

So I've been debating between getting a 2019 at discount, a 2020 ORP or go all out with the Army Green TRD Pro... as one might expect I've decided to go with the most expensive option lol. I figure since I plan on owning the vehicle for a very long time I mine as well go with the one I want most and price difference in the long run won't be too big of an issue plus I would expect the Army Green TRD to hold its value the best of the 3 options.... we will see. Anyways this is my experience so far:

I've contact 5 dealers in my area (Colorado)
Dealer #1 This is the one I went to in person and they couldn't provide much info and said they plan on marking them up 5-10k...
Dealer #2 Said they also have a 5k addendum and are currently "sold out" on the army greens
Dealer #3 This is the first dealer that said they'd sell at MSRP +$500 dealer fee but they have around 10 people on the waitlist and said I most likely wouldn't have one allocated until next year.
Dealer #4 Said they would sell a MSRP + $600 dealer fees and have no one on the waitlist. This is a smaller dealer but he still felt confident he could get one to me pretty quick. Almost went with this one until...
Dealer #5 First dealer that said they'd sell it to me at MSRP and have zero dealer fees. They said they have 3 people on the waitlist but also 3 Army Greens in production already. They also said I would have say over what options are or are not added. The sales guy said they move the most Toyotas in the state so seemed pretty confident I wouldn't be waiting too long so I decided to put a deposit down with them.

I have mixed feelings because this will be significantly more than I've spent on any vehicle in the past but considering the insane resell value here in Colorado I figure it is not a major risk if I decide I want to go with something else in the future although I think ill be pretty happy with this for a long time to come

I didn't see this posted. I know it's not the 4Runner but it's Army Green color porn. Could potentially give a decent idea of how it will compare on the 4Runner being an SUV as opposed to a truck like we have previously seen.

Lol your search process almost matches mine exactly. (except I ended up with a dealer that wouldn't budge on the dealer fee, but sold for MSRP and should arrive in 2 weeks)

I think you made the right decision with the TRD PRO. In 2016 I regretted not getting a Quicksand color TRD Pro at MSRP (my absolute fav color), and in the years since when looking to buy one, I have not seen one with less than 30,000 miles for less than 4k off its original MSRP. So the depreciation on these is super slow, especially for the unique color ones. Didnt mind paying the premium for the TRD PRO over the TRD Offroad Premium because I am super confident I am going to get that premium back plus more when it comes to resell (if I ever resell)

I am used to buying 20k Civics and Camrys so dropping what is going to be around 55k after tax for a 4runner is tough but its what I've always wanted so I bit the bullet.

As of this morning mine still seems to be just sitting at port (since 9/4), with no updated ETA as of yet.

i am in a similar situation....it would be approx 55k out the door...VERSUS a 2020 ORP for 6-7k less but then id probably end up putting more than 6-7k into the ORP so i am just like might as well get what i want stock and drive it stock..but i still wonder if it is right decision...

Depending on what options are added to the ORP it's probably closer to 8-10K less than a Pro at MSRP OTD. If you want Army Green then go for the Pro, but if you plan on modding the car the ORP is the better deal.

This is my plan as well, although I might have to go out of the area to find one with KDSS. Leaning that way.

I've read through every freaking page and post of this and I've come to two conclusions.

#1 - Holy shit does everyone on this forum bicker like a bunch of angry teenage girls. I thought the guys here would be more mature than the jeep bros but god was I wrong. No offense to anyone in particular but damn.

#2 - There seems to be no definitive word on 2020 ORP models having the dual zone climate but unless it's a package option initial photos from some of the 2020 models on dealer lots seem to point to no, unless they aren't actually ORP models and are just OR models.

I'm not holding my breath but the auto climate, keyless and android auto were the big pulls for me looking into the 2020 MY edition. With the difference in MSRP and the fact that I can get an aftermarket head unit with AA it looks like I may personally be better suited to getting a killer deal on a 19.

Anyone with details that prove me wrong on the auto climate please post up. Not gonna pay anywhere near MSRP for a 10 year old truck, even if the green is sweet.

The ORP would likely be closer to $10k off - and if you decide to do some mods, like tires - $1500 - Badging - $100 - Valances - $400 - Exhaust/ CAI - $1,000 - you are looking at maybe another $3k - and if you like KDSS, like a lot of people do, the waiting and dealing with paying a premium over MSRP and the cough cough - Green Car ( I still don't understand the color love - I owned an Army Green Cherokee in the late 90's - it was stolen, and I replaced with all Black) seems like an emotional decision that you will rationalize. But we are all free to choose what we do with our money and time. The Green doesn't do it for me. I love the blues Calvary and Voodoo, Sand, Cement was amazing and my fav - and White which is a classic but this green - no thanks. I think the premium will be a risk with a new generation coming out. It could work out if Toyota screws it up - which they likely will out of the gates. But if they don't...

My thoughts exactly... also correct me if I’m wrong here but I believe all that extra money that is put into mods typically doesn’t get reflected as strongly in the KBB value and if you get in a major accident I’m guessing the insurance company is going to give you a check for the all that mod money you’ve put into the vehicle so you open yourself up to some risk. Also on the resale market I would imagine it is usually harder to get as much money back from aftermarket mods as you would from the TRD model where the mods are stock done by Toyota

You're absolutely correct, on both counts. Re: climate control, new for the pro, standard on limited, no other trim gets it. Allegedly standard equipment across all trims in Canada though.
