2020 With Onboard WiFi Hotspot

I searched through the forums quite a bit and couldn't find any info on this, but is there any way to have the onboard WiFi automatically enable on startup? I'll attach a pic of the screen I'm talking about.

No matter what I try (even tried saving the settings to a specific driver), the Wi-Fi always turns off between engine cycles.

No WiFi on my old 2013 TE, we have a 2018 Sienna with the WiFi and in addition to the nuisance of having to turn it on each engine start, if it looses cell service it will not re-connect automatically when back in a service area. You have to slow to below 7mph to re-enable it. I like most things Toyota, but this is dumb.

I have WiFi, and it is enabled as soon as vehicle is powered on, or started. Takes about 30 seconds or so before my iPad or other device attaches to the Vehicle WiFo. 2020 ORP. Only annoying thing is if the vehicle is stopped in accessory mode. everythign powers off in 15 min with a warnign "Turning off to conserve battery" I just have to power the accessory mode on again.

Did you have to do anything special to do that? I just toggle Wi-Fi on and connect my iPad to it. When I engine cycle, it doesn't come back on..

I did not do anything. This is how it is came. Sad thing is, WiFi does not talk to the head unit, so Alexa, or other apps still needs a Bluetooth phone connected. I have an ORP with none-JBL premium system with no subwoofer.

Yes sometimes it does take awhile to connect. If you drive off and it hasn’t connected you must stop in order for it to connect. It will work in “accessory” so you dont need to have the truck running to use it. My iPhone has an “Auto-Join Hotspot” feature also that I turn on

I had an issue where my wifi wouldn't turn on. I could click the button and it would start to initialize and then give me a warning that the network was temporarily unavailable and remain off. I called att and said they saw no issue with the car's sim card and they could see it sending and receiving data. So they forwarded me to Toyota. They had no clue and told me I needed to take it to the dealership. My last ditch effort, after reseting everything on the head unit, was to disconnect my battery. I disconnected the battery for about thirty minutes. When I restarted the car the head unit took a good 5 minutes to boot up and then the wifi was working again.

Also, make sure the head unit software is up to date.

My 20 ORP is the same. It's enabled automatically. But since I have unlimited data on my phone and it does the same thing as the hotspot, I found this to be a useless feature and not worth the $$.

My 2020 Pro is the same as the OP. I'm constantly turning it on. It is a PITA. I wish there was a fix to have it stay on.

I have unlimited hotspots on my phone and ipad, but, neither work as well as the truck WiFi. I work out of my 4 Runner and use data throughout the work day.

That sounds annoying as all hell. I don't use the wifi hotspot but I definitely use carplay in my 2021 ORP and I HATE how you have to use a direct connection wire in order to be in carplay mode. My previous BMWs were all able to initialize carplay via bluetooth and no hard-wire connection..not sure why Toyota can't do the same.
