If you can do that on 2021 Pro/Limited models (which have LED low and high beams) I'd try a pair.

And if they work, you'd have a fair bit of demand, I bet.

It's wild that purple are so quick to pay $1500+ to swap in aftermarket Morimotos on their brand new truck with OEM LEDs. The Morimotos work all right, but if the Tacoma headlights are anything to go off of, they have narrow low-beam patterns and very poor high-beam performance (several times worse than even stock halogen reflector). Using a single projector for the high beam is not a great choice of design. A factory halogen lamp with H9 bulbs has nearly the same low beam performance (with a wider pattern) and much better high-beam performance. And the OEM LEDs are MUCH better in every aspect.

Already did with my first post, the plug at the bottom left of the headlight is the new plug installed already

I haven't thought too far into how to make those headlights work, most of the people upgrading to the Morimoto units have the lower end headlight units. When I get a set in need of modification, I'll tackle it at that time.

Sorry guys! I haven’t had time to get mine much more than out of the box but I’m going to find time this week to figure out my wiring/relay setup and I’ll post my parts order list and schematic. Then some photos when I get them hooked up so others could build their own harnesses if they want.

Super! Will be interested to see if you actually need a relay. Was not required in the Tacoma LED conversion harness.

I'm not sure that you really need a relay to drive the low beam LEDs from a halogen type low beam wire harness, but one question is whether the LEDs can handle spikes above 12v, which might happen on the regular halogen wiring... so my thought was to be extra careful and have a 12v regulator that's directly powered by the stock halogen low beam wiring. This would ensure no voltage spikes get to the LEDs. This might be total overkill though if the LEDs have their own built in regulators, which they very well might...

For powering the high beam shutter in the low/high LED projector, I think you really need a relay instead of powering it directly from the stock high beam halogen wire. Reason I'm thinking this is the stock high beams get PWM power when in DRL mode and if this is directly connected to the low/high LED projector shutter I'm not sure what this would do to the shutter...

Not sure which option is better, but my thoughts are one of these should work:

1. Shutter power provided by stock halogen high beam wire and this power is switched by a relay based on the low beam power. Shutter wouldn't see any power unless the low beams are on which wouldn't happen when in DRL mode.
2. Shutter power provided by the low beam wire and switched by a relay based on the high beam power. Shutter wouldn't see any power unless the high beams are at full voltage (not DRL PWM voltage). Not sure how relays behave with PWM, but I think this would work, just would need to read up on this a bit more. Think the effective relay switching voltage has to do with duty cycle of the PWM and the input voltage or something... I like this option better because the relay won't cause any voltage drop for the LEDs. This option requires the halogen high beams to be on with the LEDs when in high beam mode. Think that's ok with me but it will be crazy bright.

After looking into the Koito LED projectors that Toyota/Lexus uses I'm pretty convinced that the LED driver "blackbox" that I saw in the Toyota wiring diagram is inside the LED headlight housing. Based on this, I think the LED headlights can be powered with the halogen headlight wiring without additional 12v DC regulators.

If anyone with a 2021 can test the voltage going into their LED headlights when the truck is running we'd know for sure (see earlier post for details on the voltage testing).

Sorry, been working a ton of extra hours at work.

I got them installed and wired up. Looks amazing. Cut off is insane. No dead spots. Shines out very far! The halogen low beam harness works flawless for the low beam Leds in the 2021.

Which headlight unit did go with? The less expensive one is LED low and Halogen high; the more expensive one is LED low and LED high I believe.
