trying to sift through 41 pages....any chance you can drop a link to the install for the connector? Can't really understand if there is a harness from my connector to the new units or a modification to the new units to work with my connectors?? I have a 2015 TEP and want to install the 2021 LED/Halogen units. What specifically do I need to do for a plug-n-use?

You don’t need to buy anything additional. Just take the plastic connector from the old housings and put it on the new ones.

Thanks! Dumb question....if the LED low beam burns out, if there a bulb replacement like the Halogens?

I can’t say for certain, but I don’t think so. It’s a sealed unit, so you’d have to split the case to replace anything and reseal it.
The housing on the left is the 2014-2020, the low beam is behind the gray cover that comes off. On the 2021+ it’s sealed.

While not identical, it gives you an idea of what would need to be replaced. Either re-solder the emitters or replace the daughterboard they are attached to. Add to that the resealing of the housing and it doesn’t make sense to attempt. The likelihood of needing to replace one is small and it would be much easier to just replace with a new housing

If the board isn’t available for purchase separately, it’s a nonstarter.

A properly designed, manufactured and assembled LED array (with no latent defects) will probably last the vehicle’s lifetime. I’ve seen lifetime estimates of 15,000 to 30,000 hours. So at the low end of 15,000 hrs, lighting them 4 hrs every day, gives you over 10 years.

Took about about 2 Hrs. I have a 2020 ORP. Time it test it now.

I can’t believe the OEM purists out there stand behind the non serviceable units, and look down on drop-in LED replacement bulbs.

One less thing we can work on ourselves.

Think about it like this: if Toyota could have introduced LED headlights with actual performance and safety improvement metrics by using a simple drop-in replacement, they would have done it.

That way they'd be able to keep the existing halogen housings instead of developing entirely new ones from scratch at enormous cost on a sunsetting product line.

They didn't, because drop-in replacements are terrible and can't defy optical physics. And like Electroboy said, properly designed emitters have lifespans measured in decades.

You're conflating price with cost. I doubt Toyota will amortize the cost of development with the handful of replacement part sales to insurance companies and body shops over the next few decades. OEM component development is not cheap.

Speaking of price….what’s a good price for a lightly used set of 2021 takeoffs in good cosmetic condition?

I’ve seen em for $300-800. If you’re selling, pick your price depending on how quickly you want to sell. If you’re buying, I was willing to pay up to $600.

I bought my 2021 set off FB Marketplace, lil over $400 including shipping. I was willing to $1k 6 months ago, but could not find one. Morimoto's are nice, but pricey at $1400+

I am 100% satisfied with the output form the 2021 LED in my 2020 ORP.

Speaking of price….what’s a good price for a lightly used set of 2021 takeoffs in good cosmetic condition?

I saw a set at $250 of FB market and sent that to a member here. Person had to pay for shipping but still a good buy. I paid $700 from member here where the pin conversion was already done and it was just plug and play. I was able to sell my old ones for $200 or 250 locally, so about $500 for the upgrade for oem LED head and fog lights.

From a dealer probably looking at $1100-1400 for a pair, but hopefully that will drop soon.

Just took my set off at 3k miles off my 21 LR TRD PRO. Installed a pair of Alpharex Novas. They are nice, but not sure if the price paid was justifiable. Most iikely will be selling the OEM if interested. Feel free to message me.
