I personally think that Toyota releasing these is a great idea. It will allow people to get the limited Pro colors, without having to pay the Pro pricing. It also sounds like they are going to limit the number produced, which may reduce the effect on Pro resale values, while allowing some reductions/ negotiation room on new Pro’s. That is if dealers don’t hold these hostage with hefty markups.

Unfortunately we can joke all we want about the 4Runner Dinosaur, but until sales slip they'll just keep throwing it out there and laughing all the way to the bank.

Honestly, this annoys me to no end. We got an Army Green TRD Pro and waited 6 months to get it because it is the color my wife had to have. Plus, we thought it would be cool to have a rare color on a rare trim. WE certainly did not need a TRD Pro since she will never off-road it. I'm sure some Cement owners are annoyed too. I thought the TRD Pro for each year was exclusive to that trim only. Not anymore apparently. Proof Toyota knows they need a major update to their line when they start offering the exclusive colors on the lower trims. Dodge has done the same with their ancient Charger/Challenger. I wonder what the TRD Pro "exclusive color" will be for 2021. If you miss out, you'll be able to get it across the board for 2022...

They already do it for the Tacoma and Tundra. I bought a Voodoo blue pro and there are a bunch of 2020 voodoo blue trucks all over the lots. I’m afraid the exclusivity factor is gone. There will be a lot of people buying the army green “trail” and throwing on some TRD wheels, grill and rack. The resale value of the pros in the “exclusive” color just dropped.

Pretty narrow minded to buy a Toyota thinking it will somehow be exclusive. Color, options, whatever....it’s a vehicle built by a giant company, they don’t do exclusive except for maybe the Lexus LFA.

My guess is that every Pro color or almost every one will be available in a SR5 Trail over the next 2-3 years. The limitation has to be something to do with the production facility limit on colors or something like that. I'm not really sure why they haven't always been available otherwise. All the colors were available on lower trim Tacomas and Tundras. A Rav4 comes in 17 different colors.

I'm happy they're giving us more choices... did they miss out on opportunities for other features? YES! But at this point I'm grateful they are providing consumers with the ability to choose what they like, even if it's not perfect.

Yeah....the TRD craze has lost its luster anyway. I’m glad because I was able to get a $4000 discount on my TRD PRO. That was virtually unheard of a year or two ago. You shouldn’t have to pay MSRP anymore. The resale will still be great but it’s great for the entire 4runner line. There are still some 2019’s sitting around and finding an army green PRO sitting on a lot around here is pretty easy.

As an SR5 owner, I'm smitten with how Toyota was able to troll both Pro and Trail owners in one fell swoop.

You know the Trail owners are saying "Awe shit, that sucks." :sobbing:

And the Pro owners are currently drafting strongly worded letters to Toyota Corporate in order to communicate their butt hurt. :argue:

Toyota will respond with something that in essence says "We give zero fvcks about your feelings. Go ahead and buy a Jeep, b!tch."

To which some will go out and buy Jeeps, but will inevitably come crawling back with their tail between their legs and Toyota will be right there waiting, like a drug dealer with the goods. :spy:

Probably a good guess. If you pay attention, all of the Pro colors used to be colors for the FJ Cruiser (including some Trail Team editions), with the exception of orange in 2015.

There is only one engine available: A 4.0-liter V6 that makes 270 horsepower and pairs with a 5-speed automatic transmission. Maximum towing capacity is rated at 5,000 pounds.

The 4runner has tss-p and not 2.0. So it's lacking I believe the lane tracing and road sign assist. Maybe the pre collison for bicycles, but not 100% on that. I also think there is a few differences in LDA.

Right, the 4Runner doesn't have full speed range DRCC yet, like the Subaru has. Trying to read into that article where blind spot monitoring comes, so wondering if they will upgrade from DRCC to full-speed range DRCC in 2021.
Traffic is brutal out to the mountains from Denver, so I would love this feature!!
