Has anyone figured out how to run a split screen through CarPlay? By that I mean, if I am plugged in and running Waze on my screen, is there a way to have that display split to where you can run Waze and say your radio display on the screen at the same time? I can see how you can split the screen into 3 displays but I can't get the radio (FM/XM) to show so I can change the channel while Waze is up and running. TIA!

CarPlay takes over the display. You can’t have both that and the native system up at the same time.

You could run the SiriusXM app on CarPlay, that would allow you not to exit CarPlay to deal with the music. Or just stream through some other source.

If you’re running the “native” audio though and have a CarPlay nav app running, how much do you really need to see the audio display? The album art isn’t that awesome

Nope.... Native AM/FM source cannot be used at the same time as AA/CarPlay. You CAN use XM with AA/CarPlay by installing the XM app on the device connected; that will provide you with an XM app on your AA/CarPlay UI menu. That said I find the UI on the XM app to be dogshiyt, but at least it works.

Not being able to tune into AM while using Waze is something that makes me insane as a baseball fan, but life goes on.....

You can, just change the audio source in the "audio" menu on the head unit. You can't however see the station/frequency display while running Waze on CarPlay or AA.

You can split among all Entune apps such as weather, radio, nav…

Or among all CarPlay such as Music, Maps, etc.

But not mixed between the platforms, to my knowledge.

Thanks for the info, that's what I suspected but thought I would confirm. I may try and run the XM app through the phone and see if that satisfies the need. It's less about the album art and more about the ability to change the station. :o)

I did NOT believe you guys as I have tried to make this work many times to no avail.....But you were absolutely right. You can listen to AM, FM (or XM) natively and still see/use AA apps

However, it turns out the AA interface itself can get in the way, at least in my experience. Documenting here in case anyone else has the same issue....

What was happening for me is every time I would select AM (or FM) from the native audio source while I was plugged in and already running Waze or Google Maps via AA, the AM source would turn off and the AA would automatically start playing my Spotify or Podcast app instead. As I had these apps running on my connected device, for whatever reason, it was defaulting to them as an audio source. I unplugged my device (S21) killed both apps (Spotify and Pocketcasts), plugged back in and the issue was resolved.

Sorry for the bad info DoTheMath!

The XM AA/CarPlay app is ugly and kinda clunky, but its 100% worth installing on your phone for the ease of use when in Waze/Maps
