When the ambient temp is 75 degrees or above the recirc button comes on when the a/c is on. Not on the highest level. When below 75 it remains off.
Well living in Phx for quite some time I learned that this was the way to cool your car the quickest.
Lets use arbitrary numbers.
Let's say it's 115 degrees outside, your car interior could be 140 or higher.
Instead of recirculating 140+ air to try and cool it, turn the recirc off and roll all your windows down to get the super hot air out the cooler (lol) outside air in. Then once it feels a bit cool then turn your recirc back on and roll the windows up. Easier to cool 115 degree air than 140+!
Any know of a hack that would reverse this setting when the vehicle is started?

my 2012 does this too. although I don't really ever use the AC all that much. I use the heater much more

I'm guessing when the ambient and inside temperature are both so high the computer figures it's easier to use the recirc to cool the vehicle down. there must be some mathematics that looks at relative humidity and temperature inside and outside as well as the temperature you have selected.
