Hey everyone, I had a question my friend has a set of FJ springs with 20K miles on them is that too many miles on them? He wants 200 dollars for them I think thats a bit steep. I put bilsteins 5100's on all four corners now the rear is squating is it because of the weight transfer? Also do I have to lift the rear to be using these shocks. Thanks everyone have a great weekend!

Walk away, that's WAY steep.

Watch ebay! You can find them on there all the time with less than 1k, and they usually sell around $50+shipping for 4 springs! $200 and 20k, doesnt sound like a very good friend! Jus my .02!

Installing new shocks should not have changed the ride height of the vehicle, unless they are air-control or coil-over shocks. All normal shocks are designed to do is control the rebound of the suspension system, not ride height.. As for your friends FJ springs, I think, as others that you should look elsewhere.

For the most part, you are correct that shocks will not change the ride height. However, the bilstein 5100's will. The front (only the front) has a series of grooves machined in to the housing that will allow the installer to change the vertical position of the spring seat via a retaining ring installed into the groove. This works essentially like a spacer. The rear is not actually squatting. It is sitting at the same level it was before the shocks were installed. To fix this, you could lower the retaining ring on the fronts to drop the fronts just a little more. Or put FJC springs just in the back and that would give you about 3/4 of an inch which should help level it back out.

Thank you guys for all the response's. I will look elsewhere. I tried e-bay a while back, but had no luck. I guess I didn't make my question clear on the rear. What I meant was that I thought the rear 5100's were meant for lifted applications. Can you use them on a stock height 4runner? Thank you again.

The 5100's will work on a stock height 4runner. The fronts are adjustables and can be set at the desired lift (including 0). For the rear, the shocks are slightly longer than stock but will work for you. As for the FJ setup, I've seen a full FJ suspension going for under $200. I've seen a lot of springs (complete set) for ~$50.

Your "friend" Is trying to rip you off !!! the Springs He should just give to you . If you give more than 50 Bucks its a Rip !!!

Yep, there are a ton of guys over there selling them. I have a posy in the wtb section, you can look it up to see who responded and if they still have them. I was patient and found a guy who gave me a set for free, I just paid shipping.
