Engine is idling rough and seems to be using a little more gas .Does any one think it could be the temp sensor on top of the thermostat housng ? It seems to idle ok when first started in the morning when cold . As it warms up it idles rough .Any other ideas ?? Its a 1986 sr5 4 runner . Arnie

Coolant sensor is just temperature it doesn't effect the idle. Once the engine warms up the cold start injector should shut off, it's it's leaking or partially open it will send fuel when it's not supposed to. I would test your TPS and your oxygen sensor. They can cause the same issue.
Check your Aux air valve too. If it gets stuck open it will try and raise your idle after the engine is warm. Really, it could be a number of things. You need to download the FSM and test all of your EFI sensors with a multimeter and narrow down your possibilities before you start throwing parts at it.

when you have problems with idle the answer is not to bump up the idle.
you will cause sensor malfunction ecu overwork and o yeah fuel consumption don't be a noob.
what ohm did you set your tps to?
what resistance did you get out of the AFM
did your CSI work properly.
is the COR staying in the on position?
did the idle air controller have and cracks?
did you mist water in the engine cabinet to seek out a possible vacuum leak?

My truck randomly raises its idle after it gets warm. Usually to around 1500-1800rpm. When it does this it will go down if i hit the gas for a sec. Maybe this "aux air valve" is my issue?

sorry just been so busy restoring one truck and trying to fix my daily driver its been harsh.
Got a chance to test the AFM today . E2 -Vs = 67 ohms ok E2 - Vc = 179 ohms OK E2 - Vb = .279 ohms NOT OK E2 - THA = 2.08 ohms @74 degrees OK E1 - Fc OK . So the E2 to Vb is way off ,should be 200 to 400 Ohms Maybe this is it .No way to know with out trying a known working one . Kids will try pick n pull tomorrow after they work unless we can find one some where else. I see lots of them on E Bay but who knows if there good even when they say they have been tested .Arnie

And, yes, check all vac lines carefully, make sure all plugs are secure and tight and all the intake parts should be free of cracks and rubber connectors tight on both ends. Pm me or email for parts---they are going fast

I'm having the same problems with mine. Idles rough, idle goes below 750rpm and almost wants to die at the stop light so I'm forced to heel and toe sometimes.
Like a noob as you say, I cranked up the idle speed to keep it from dying. I'm taking it in to a good friend of mine who knows more about my truck than I do. I'll suggest the list of things, Bad_Vision mentioned, to my friend.
This engine is brand new, but I ran out of money pretty quick, so I couldn't afford to replace all the 25 year old emissions and vacuum components.
I'm going to replace the OEM intake cause It's crimped and do have a small cut in the rubber near the throttle body, however, after throwing brake cleaner around it and the other vacuum hoses, the engine idle didn't change so I don't think there's a leak per say.
