22re question

So I have a question regarding my 22re. So here's the story. In November my blocked cracked and I found a 22re so I decided to just drop another 22re in. I got the motor dropped in and made sure everything is lined up like it should. It started but ran really bad and would barely idle and figured it was the timing, and it was super advanced. So I set the motor to tdc and removed the valve cover to make sure it was on the intake stroke and made sure the distributor was set to the 1 spark plug wire. Now the motor will start but won't idle at all. I've checked the timing to make sure it was correct 3 times which it was. Also I was able to make it run if I held the gas down and was able to get engine code 6 and 11. I've replaced a lot of parts on the motor before I attempted to start such as spark plugs and wires. Any ideas as to what I could be missing or what's wrong. Any advice is truly appreciated

Test the TPS, MAF and igniter report your results. If you don't know how use the link for 4crawler in my signature

And make sure all intake pipes are clamped down and sealed. Engine will not idle without a sealed connection to the MAF.

I would say the tps is probably correctly set since you are getting codes, but it would not hurt to re-check it using the link in BadVision's sig.

x3 on the TPS (throttle position sensor)

I had a similar problem and chased a few other possible causes, it turned out to the TPS. It's waaay easier to test if it's off the engine, and I put off testing this item since the TPS was only 12-18 months old ... but it was bad. A new TPS got me rolling.

Another time I had a similar issue, it was the electronic sender on the distributer, so I had to buy a whole new distributer. That was a bear to chase down because it was intermittent. I ended up carrying a multimeter with me and when the truck quit, I'd hop out and quickly test the distributer.

Good luck : )
