Hey guys just joined up as I'm having issues with my 1989 4runner. 22re fuel injected motor. I have great compression on all 4 as its a rebuilt motor' I'm getting spark on all 4 as we stabbed distributor on tdc on cyl 1. We have fuel at manifold but not sure if injectors are on..

Is your fuel pump working? Either jump it or move the vane in the AFM. Also, you sure it's TDC with #1 on the compression stroke? Could be 180° off. Happens a lot. So if you have good compression, fuel and spark, then your timing is what's off.

I will try tdc again on cyl 1. It seems as if the timing is 180 out. Does starting fluid in throttle body burn if I spray in it to see if it fires?

Yeah starting fluid can go in the TB and it will get you started if you have any spark at all. if it runs an quits then it may be your fuel pump. I wouldnt recommend doing it more than once or twice though as carb cleaner is very harsh on the TB, the cyl walls, and piston rings. Air intake cleaner has less harsh chemicals and is a bit better for use. Dont know if it aids to starting as much as carb cleaner though.

Starts than dies

Oh K. I got 4runner to run' drove it 60 miles' it ran funky but Alrite ... Got to my house and was out of gas... Put 3 gallons of gas in but won't start. So I adjusted timing and got it to start but it shuts off after 3 seconds ... Fuel pump? Fuel filter or distributor issue?
