235/85-16, who runs pizza cutters?

So there is a bunch of talk about the 255/85/16, but who is running real pizza cutters? I'm debating buying some 235 DuraTracs for my 99 with 1" body lift and stock 5-star rims.

I know the skinnies aren't everyones favorite look so I'm looking to those who are using that size tire. I've been searching the 3rd Gen forums but everything keeps coming back to the 255/85. Most of the rides over at the Expedition Portal using this size tire are not 4Runners.

I am also interested in running true pizza cutters (235/85/16), 255s ain't got nothing on 235s! 255s don't even look skinny (I've had them before). I have a 3" lift right now, any cons of running 235s with a lift? From everything I've read, 235s are better for everything except mud!:driving:

235/85s are right under 32" tall and should work well with a 3" lift. Many people run 265/75s (same height) with a similar lift and all you are loosing is a small amount of track width, which you could easily counteract by running lower offset rims. Personally I went with the 265s because they are easier to find, less expensive, and weigh only a small amount more. That said, I'm looking for a used 235 for a spare tire because it does not hang down as low beneath the truck.

Specs on the DuraTrac say 6.0-7.5" rim, so stock will be no problem. I pretty sure I saw a thread on a Taco board where they were running them on 8" rims with no reported issues, although they did have some bulge.

Think they would look stupid, the 3rd gen has a wide stance as it is, IMO it does. 255's would be more ideal.

235/85s fit stock so that would be the only possible what if when running a lift with them. I almost looked at a 3rd gen before I bought mine that had 235s on it, but it was too rusty for me. From the pics it looked really good. '99s and a 1" BL prob wouldnt be too bad. They were my 2nd choice, but I found a deal on 255s so thats what I went with. I love some tall skinny's but to each his own.

I know that the European spec LC Prado 90 base models with steelies come from factory with 235/85/16 pizza cutters. I've seen a bunch in person and personally I think they look pretty cool.

Perhaps it's just me, but 235's don't look like pizza cutters. The parents have a Honda Pilot that runs 235's on 16" wheels... Doesn't look bad.... or that different.

I had them on a 2006 Tacoma. I like them. They didn't look too narrow on a truck with no lift.

I selected the 235/85/16s for my latest set. I am running Yoko Geolander AT/S.

Honestly, even most of my 4Runner buds can't notice the difference between the 265/75/16 size and the new one.

I've not done a snow season yet in them, but don't have anything bad to relate. Only time I can feel a real difference is when cornering too fast, they do feel a slight bit 'tippy' compared to a slightly fatter tread previously.

I wanted to update this thread. After a lot of soul searching, self-doubt/pity, research, and general time wasting, I decided to go with the 235s in the BFGoodrich KO2 flavor. They made the stance look a titch narrow, so I threw on some Spidertrax 1.25" spacers that really helped(photo taken before I mounted the spacers).

So far I really dig the way the truck handles. I think its a big improvement over the stock size all around and really helps out the 3" lift, while only adding 9lbs over stock tire weight. Highly recommend.

The skinny tires 235, 255's vs 265, 285's skinny's give you the height without the
rolling resistence and unsprung weight of the fatty's.
My direction is overlanding use so shortly 255/85-16 St Maxx's going on coke bottle OE wheels with 1.25" spacers should be flush with limited flairs.

Comes down to your usage and the look your happy with.
