255/75R17 with no lift

OK, I am sure I will get beat up about this, but I am just not finding it in a search. I have searched skinnys, rubicon, and the tire size and haven't found a post talking about trying to fit these with no lift. I did see in the Suspension Option/FAQ that it was mentioned with 1/0 lift and 2/1, but can it fit on stock? Will it rub? How bad will it rub?

I just purchased a 05 T4R V8 sport (my first T4R). I have converted over from a TJ which I've had for years.

I don't mind rubbing as long as it isn't a damaging rub. Thanks for your kindness.

I have a 06 V6 SE

and with a 1.5" lift my 255/75/17s rubbed against the inner fender/mud flap @ about 3/4 turn. This is using OE UCAs and 5th gen SR5 wheels. With SPC aftermarket UCAs and 2.-2.25"s if lift i have no rubbing..YMMV :cheers:

The first reply was with 255/85, but you may have been trying to make the point that if those won't fit with a 2.5" lift, 255/75 won't with with no lift.

First post in that thread. Looks like you need a 1" in the front.

A spacer would probably be fine if you don't have the funds to do a proper lift but need new tires. I'm going to go OME once my current tires are done, and then go with the 255/75 17's as well (maybe even get some new shoes, too).

I think 255/75/17 is a really tight fit without a lift, but it might be possible with if you clearance a thing or two...

If you were closer I would let you try on my spare, that is the tire size I run.

it fits stock if you move the fender liner up. ran them stock for months

255/85R16 is effectively the same size as 255/75R17. Just a different rim size. You'll need to trim the exact same amount as anyone else running those tires who offroads. Suspension lifts don't gain you any "wheeling" clearance. Only street "ride height" clearance.

Actually, 255/85R16 is a 33" tire. 255/80R16 and 255/75R17 are equivalent 32" tires.

I meant clearance in terms of trimming, not obstacle clearance.

The tires travel the exact same path with stock suspension as it does with a suspension lift if you wheel and flex it out.

In other words, if you wheel, its just as easy to fit 33's on stock suspension as it is when you have a suspension lift.

i run this size skinnies...youre gonna rub if you try to put them on stock height because i rub at super sharp reverse right now...That being said are you sure youre at stock height and havent sunk down any over the years?

Depends on the brand but they around 32" and they will fit without lift as I had GY Silent Armor in that size and it did not rubbed anywhere other than liner on full turn.
