Fit without rubbing, at least without the mud flaps. Spare fits but just barely on the V6 with tow hitch and doesn't rub on the panhard bar at full pressure- discount tire got it to fit just fine. Stoked!

I'm going to copy your choice on size and brand...I'm glad they fit!
 
I've been running 255/80/17 KM2s for the last couple months and rub on the frame on the passenger side at full lock in reverse, but I'm also running FJ steel wheels. I stuffed my spare underneath, but it's completely deflated. If I need it I have OBA to fill it back up.

It seems the BFGs are a little bigger than the Coopers at 33.1 vs 32.8". The wheels probably also play into the rubbing. On my previous Tacoma I ran 255/85r16 Maxxis tires which were 32.8" on stock wheels with no rubbing, so I thought I'd go for the "short" 255s again. Plus the spare tire was really tight with a 255/75r17 so I was nervous about fitting a 33 without hitting the panhard bar.

You'll be very happy! I'm in the middle of a 1,000 mile road trip in Utah and have been very happy with the tires. Smooth on the highway and good traction offroad.

I should mention that I have a 3" lift with LR upper control arms with 3* caster to help push the wheels forward. But still no rub even stuffing the wheels, will put the mudflaps back on when I get home

Subscribed! Not too many people running these on the 5th gen I feel. Keeping an eye on y'alls experiences since I'm contemplating these vs 285 k02s.

Forgot to mention that I'm running Camburg UCAs w/ 3* caster as well which is keeping me off the cab mount. Haven't even touched it yet w/ the 255/80/17
 
The 255 ST's actually contacted the panhard bar on my 4th gen. I did some trimming underneath and was able to tuck the tire just a little higher. I actually hoist the spare 255 ST in place while flat, then air it up.
 
Don't need new rubber just quite yet, but thinking about it..

Was thinking same size 285/70/17 Cooper STT Pro's to replace my Duratracs...

...would a 255/80/17 be similar in size? Pluses/minuses? Hmmm.....

Such a great tire size for a daily driver that doesn't see extremely deep mud or sand. I just got back from a 1,200 mile road trip and my gas mileage stayed the same compared to the 255/75r17 BFG mud terrain KMs that I had on before. Very good traction on gravel roads and on the sandy slickrock trails around Moab. Also very smooth and quiet on the highway. The only drawback with these tires is that you can feel the weight and size when climbing hills on the highway, nothing terrible but it is noticeable.

They are the same outer diameter, just the width is different. The 285s would be better for deep mud and sand, and the 255 is the same or better everywhere else. Do you DD your 4runner? If so I'd recommend the 255s for better gas mileage and less power loss on the highway.
 
Am not to sure itll give better mpg i had 285/70-17 toyo at2. Was getting 15 highway. I went with duratracs 255/75-17 and got 16 mpg highway. And thats correcting the tire size difference for finding mpg

Thanks for all this info. Sounds like it should be great for me. 99% road and the 1% towards some sand at the beach. I stay away from mud though it happens occasionally!
Mileage wise, I've never owned anything over 20mpgs. Though it would be nice to stay close as possible to my 17 to 19mpg highway. Thinking these should help compared to fatter 285s.

Thanks! I have RCI's sliders and have been very happy with them. All the bolt holes lined up perfectly and they let you adjust them up and down for your preference. I got the treadplate and they also work good as steps. They've taken a few big hits without issue. Would strongly recommend them!
