265/65/18 stock 4 Gen questions

I've looked at several different threads already, but I have a few more specific questions I need help with before I get new tires. I have a Stock 2008 (4th Gen) Sport, and my stock tire size is 265/60/18. I Really want to get the Bf Goodrich All-Terrain TA/KO and it would be 265/65/18, but I have two concerns; would this size tire fit in my spare tire spot? and secondly, how much rubbing would there be. since this tire is a bit taller, I imagine it will rub when I turn. If so, is there any easy way to fabricate to prevent the rubbing or is it mild rubbing? I would really appreciate the help! thanks in advance!

That is not your stock size unless you have aftermarket 18" rims. Stock SE is 265/65/17

BFG makes a stock 17" tire in the E load range and the 265/70/17 which many run in the C load range. There is LITTLE rubbing and it is nothing to worry about. I have them and love them.

Both will fit in the spare location.

well I guess I mislead a little, my 4runner is the Urban Runner, which comes stock with the 18s.. but thank you, thats all great news! and the tire fits in the spare spot??

As I said it will fit without issue.

places to install a lift kit

I also need new itres ans I couldnt get new tires and not get a lift on my 4runner. So my question is does anybody know of a good shop in the Chicago suburbs that can install a lift on my 4 runner.

I can get some for you tomorrow. I had oral surgery (dental implant) yesterday and I'm still pretty out of it.

I got the tires put on last week. I wanted the stock 265/60/18 size but they didn't have them on hand and said they were backordered. The size difference was minimal and they were actually cheaper so I pulled the trigger on them.

How is the feel of that tire when you move the wheel? I had some Birdgestone revos on an explorer and it felt really unstable to me vs any other tire ive tried. It was almost like the ligs were too soft so my steering wheel movements were very delayed. I had some of the LTX MS after that that wernt as bad but still did it to some degree.

I am in the same boat and looking at the same tire size. Right now i have the 275/55-18 cross terrains but want something a little more aggressive. I love how the BFG AT KO looks but i remember with my explorer and them rain performance wasnt that great compared to say the LTX or these cross terrains. I keep reading good things about the Hankook Dynapro's too.

Honestly I can't complain about the Michelin LTX M/S 2 tires. Infact I can't believe what a difference they have made. I like the size increase (I can tell I sit higher) with the 265/65/R18. They don't rub. They are smooth, stable and they have great traction. They have a 70,000 mile warranty. I wouldn't buy them anywhere else but tiremonkey.com because of the price.. I bought my T4R brand new and I plan on keeping it for a long time so I knew I wanted to get long lasting tires. I don't do much off roading so the tread pattern of the Michelin LTX M/S 2 suited my needs. The only thing I have had to get used to is the adjustment in the speedo. When it says I am going 68 I am really going 70mph.

I think im going to jump on the boat with the 265/65/18 MS2s. I have Dueller RH-S in the same size right now but they're cupping and annoying me. I figured id be more realistic this time around and go for the all-season versus an A/T or other aggressive tire as I do much more on-road driving with the occasional light offroading (at least for now). I'm hoping to save a bunch on gas with these!

One question, does everyone else have a different internet than me? I say that because I do not find any of these results others are claiming, such as TireMonkey being cheaper than everywhere else for 165/65/18 MS2s. The site shows 250/tire. Then you pay shipping and install. Thats 1,000 for just the tires, plus shipping/install. My local mr.tire is quoting 1066 Installed for all 4.

Another discrepancy I see is with the Nitto TGs. I have YET to find these in 265/65/18, 255/70/18 or the stock 265/60/18. If I could find em, I'd buy em. The link in this thread to tirebuyer.com shows the Nitto TGs but there is nothing for the 18s that would fit us stock. Any ideas?

Back when I bought my Michelin LTX MS/2 tires they were about $189/each on Tire Monkey. I see now they are $234/ each today on Tire Monkey. Sounds like your local guy may have a better deal..
