Im going to need some new tires soon and id say 80% of my driving is on pavement unless i get a chance to play. I currently have 275/55 R18's in a Michelin Cross Terrain. The tire has been pretty good so far as far as traction in rain and on dry road. The noise level is also pretty low.
Can anyone comment on their tires as far as road noise and traction? I've read about a god many of the tires and noise doesn't seem to be a very active topic. I'd like to get something more sand and mud worthy with minimal noise.
On a previous car (explorer) i had Bridgestone revos which i didnt really like. Its hard to explain but they felt like they were slipping on my rim on initial acceleration. I dont know if it was the lug shape or what but i didnt like them. I also had a set of BFG AT KO's which looked good but i wasnt impressed with the wet traction. Another tire ive had is the Michelin LTX M&S. It was pretty good all around but still had that loose lug feel a little. Compared to my current cross terrains the car just felt loose and delayed. I do realize i had more sidewall on the explorer with 15" wheels vs 18"'s on the 4runner but just like the more responsive feel.
So I see on here the Duratracks are mentioned but do many of you have the BFG Rugged Terrains or the Nitto Terra Grappler? How do they fair noise and traction wise?
