265/75/16 vs. 32x11.5 15 any wheel experts?

I've been reading a few forums trying to decide on a tire/wheel combo. I'm pretty much set on a Yokohama Geo. ATS or Falken Wild Peak on a Pro Comp 8069 Pro Comp 8069 Series - Pro Comp 8069 Gloss Black Wheels - Jeep & Truck Gloss Black Wheels Pro Comp

Options:

A) 265/75/16 on the Pro Comp. *This size wheel only comes with a 4 inch back space and -11mm offset. I've seen other guys on here with it, and it looks almost like a stock wheel in terms of spacing.

B) 32x11.5 15 on the Pro Comp. *This size wheel has a 3.75 back space and -19mm offset. This tire is also 1 inch wider than the 265/75/16 and thats why I like it.

Has anyone ran a 15x8 with a 3.75 back spacing? I am worried it may stick out too much and that the 15 inch wheel may hit the rotors.

Any input on either set up would be appreciated.

I've got Procomp 1079's 16X8 with 4.5" backspacing. Here's a rear shot to show you how far mine stick out past the fenders.

Here's some comparison shots, between mine, and a stock Limited....

Personally, I think that the 4" to 4.5" backspacing is PERFECT! Any more than that, and they just stick out too much. I find that the stock wheels, come in too much, and don't quite look as good. Not to mention, with the above backspacing, you should be able to clear just about any tire in 33" variety. This is just my 2 cents.....

Thanks for the advice man. I've seen your set up a few times on here and I think it's the perfect balance of lift/ wheel offset. I think I'm going with 16x8 / 4" backspacing. It looks real good on Hepar's ride http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/70925-bought-stock-2001-sport-two-weeks-ago.html Yours seem to stick out a little more than his, but it could be due to the bigger tires on yours, and the stock flares on his.

You might want to figure out if you do have a Limited package. It looks like it from your sig. If you do, you can't run 15" rims. They won't clear your brakes.

If it came factory with 16"s rims, then you cant run 15" rims.

Hepars flares definately cover more of the tire, and I think my tires are a little wider than his, as he's running the 265's and I'm running the 285's. Either way, Hepar's rig looks great too! Good luck on your wheel and tire hunt!

Fightman80, I like those wheels on your rig. I'm not trying to start anything but it says on ProComp's site that the 1079's are 4" backspacing on the 16x8's. Do you have any rubbing issues with the 285's on those rims?

I believe the Short answer is....no. You would have to cut and pound a ton of steel around your fender wells to run those on stock height......

Yeah! You're right! I just checked the Procomp site myself, and it does state 4" of Backspace for my 1079's! Sorry guys, I was under the impression that they were 4.5" since the day I ordered them from NAPA.....either the sales guy got it wrong, or I did......

Eitherway, I still find 4 - 4.5" of Backspace looks the best on our rigs. I recently saw a lifted Dodge Ram driving down the road with wheels that stuck out so much, it looked like he was riding on 45 gallon steel drums that were cut in half! It looked like :toilet:

Also, I'm not a physics wiz or anything....but I believe that when you off set the wheels a little, it stablizes the truck a little more than with stock wheels, as it widens the track of the vehicle. (definately a plus if you want to avoid rollovers)

Oh and BTW, I did have rubbing with my Toytec spacer and 890 coils. I ended up trimming the lower bumper valance just to be able to drive on the road, and had some issues with the rear, but only when I was heavily articulated on the trail. The rear has been resolved with my LC 8 Wrap coils!

Not really noticeable from 3 feet away.......definately not noticeable at 60mph! HA HA HA!

No problem! I'm thinking about upgrading my wheels also to give my rig a wider stance also! Did you have to trim your valance to accomodate your Procomps and 285's?

Thanks! I used some painters tape, a jigsaw, and then trimmed off the little jagged pieces with razor knife......

Unfortunately they dont carry the 8069. So now I have to decide if I want to save a bunch of money and compromise, or go to a off road shop and spend $150 more to get what I want.

What effects the wheel size is that both the Limited and the Sport models came with slightly bigger front brakes thus needing at least a 16" wheel to not hit them.
