265's or 285's with stock wheels w/ the Ultimate kit?

hey guys. im ordering the ultimate kit from toytec and was wondering what would ride/perform/look better. im debating between 265 and 285/65/16's. i plan to run it at the 3'' lift when installed. any input would be great. im leaning to the duratracs.

I just bought a set of 265s Cooper Discoverers and they sit nice with my 2.5" front / 3" rear lift. No need to worry about spacers, rubbing etc. for me.

265/75/16 will look small, but you don't wheel need spacers and the tires shouldn't rub at full bump and full lock.

285/75/16 will look a lot better, but you might need wheel spacers or new wheels with 4.5" backspacing to clear the UCAs. And you will probably still have to trim so the 285s will clear at full bump and full lock.

The larger tire will make your truck slower too. Get 285s I'd say, or you will wish you did after 6 months with the 265s.

285s for sure... 265 will look like pizza cutters.

But that opens the can of worms like FR4R said... maybe spacers a bit of trimming/pinch weld pounding and then eventually it may lead to gearing. Welcome to modding

Not completely true. I don't have ultimate kit, but I have the Tundra coils/adjustable Bilstein setup with OME rear coils.

I have 285/75/16 Kelly Safari TSR's on stock rims, no spacers, and they do not hit the UCA. They do rub on the frame a little at full turn, I have not trimmed anywhere, and I have taken it offroading without any issues.

I had the tire shop where I bought my tires put one tire on a rim and check for any rubbing before proceeded with the purchase.

How about a 255/85/16? they are tall but skinny enough not to need spacers or trimming... and yes, that what I have otherwise I think youll wish u had done 285s over the 265s

Personally I prefer more space in the wheelwells. I have my ToyTec coilovers set to about 4" and have OME 861 rear coils (about 5" of lift). I have been running 265/75-16 for years. My last set were Yokohama AT/S and the current set are Duratracs. I'm very happy with the size. I also run with guys that have 285s, 305s and 315s and have no problem keeping up with them on trail.
