275-70-17 KO2 General Grabber ATX or Falken Wildpeak AT3?

I currently have the KO2's. Are the General Grabber ATX or Wildpeak AT3's a good choice as well? Not sure if I should stick with the BFG's. I like the sidewall protection of the BFG's in the desert are the other two choices comparable in sidewall protection? Any experience with the Falken's or General's? Also for the Snow as well for up in Northern Az. Thanks for any feedback

Can't speak to the general grabbers, but have dealt with both KO2s and AT3Ws.

Compared to a KO2, the Falken gives up some deep sidewall protection. There is about a 4 inch band coming in from the tread that is as thick as the KO2, but it doesn't run all the way to the center. If you regularly hit your rims on rocks, you might notice this. However, I've never had a problem with it on desert/mild to moderate rock trails.

Snow performance of the AT3W however is significantly better. Its a nice deep tread, and handles that well. Not the stickiest snow AT out there (that goes to Cooper ATWs which aren't made anymore), but more than good enough for most use cases.

Basically, you give up a little sidewall to get better snow performance and a lighter weight tire. IMO, the KO2 is still the best rock oriented AT out there. However, the Falken beats it for mixed driving and snow/rain.

I have tried all 3 options. I think ko2’s were the smoothest riding. The grabber atx rode good but only lasted 25,000 miles or so. The wild peaks I believe have the best traction.

love the grabbers. have them in 265s on the daily and was running 285s on the wheeler before going to yoko MTs. would run them again on the daily no hesitation. they wheel great in mud and rocks, are quiet, smooth, and handle water really well on the highway. 32k on the 265s right now with plenty to go as they are rated to 60k, not sure what happened to [MENTION=650708]Tuyrunner[/MENTION]

Have the KO2's and had the AT2 (predecessor to the ATX). The KO2 and the Grabber were so similar in how they handle extreme circumstances, I don't think I'd be so bold to say that moving to the grabber from the KO2 is going to be "a big step up" in any traction category because the tread design is so similar.

They're different in other ways like carcass design, treadwear, etc. The details, as it were.

Regardless, I think if you want to try something new, go for the Falkens. My opinion of if the KO2 is the greatest truck tire ever made changes with the surface I'm driving on.

I'm running wildpeak coming from cooper discovery at3. I'm the 3rd week with this tire praying for some snow so I can see how they handle, so far on wet road been amazing the stick like glue to the road.

We have run the grabbers for a while and they are great in the desert and the snow, absolute ice skates in mud though. They also have not lasted at all. Only have about 30,000 miles on them and they are worn out. We will be going back to BFG for our next set.

im running a 375-70/17 wildpeak at3w and have no complaints.. I got this tire mainly because of price and availability, originally was looking at the BFG tire but they weren't available to ship the same week so I settled on the AT3W. No complaints whatsoever but I have nothing to compare it to. I heard people having issues balancing them but firestone did a quick job of mounting and balacing and I had 0 issues.

They have seen quite a few offroad trips and have take a decent beating.
